Hello, I’m a new freshman in Cornell and I am going to be starting classes in the fall. I’m interested in taking the Cornell Chemistry Advanced Standing Examination during orientation for both chem 2070 and chem 2080 in order to get the credits for chem. If anyone ever took the test before, I would appreciate if you can tell me how it is structured, whether it is mostly multiple choice or short answer, what areas of chemistry does the test focus on particularly, the overall difficulty of both tests, and the amount of time you are given for the test. The cornell website doesn’t say anything about the contents of the test or its structure other than the classes you can skip if you pass it.
p.s. No, I didn’t take ap chem in high school due to my school not offering that class. Although the test discourages people that didn’t college level courses from taking it, I think that it is well in my ability to self study college level chemistry during the summer.
