Cornell Class of 2017 RD Discussion

Way to burst my bubble man… :(

In all honesty though, if they accept more people ED, does that indicate they may accept more RD? Maybe or maybe not… This is such a crapshoot, so you never know. Better to hope for the best at this point.

I was feeling the same way, then I went back and looked at it a few days ago… only to find 20 things I wish I could change! The feeling kinda sucks but hey that’s life.

We still got a month.

Yup, exactly 4 weeks to go. It’s tough because we have break that week starting Friday 3/29, so we’ll have 2 things to look forward to: break AND decisions.

Is anyone else in tough classes, but just doesn’t feel like studying for them? It’s not senioritis at this point I don’t think… I’m pretty sure it’s the uncertainty. I mean, whenever I imagine a room full of admissions counselors debating specific points in my application, suddenly the equilibrium concentration of OH- just seems meaningless.

March is going to be REEEAAALLY long…

I have a really bad case of senioritis. ): I already started out this semester with some failing grades.

I can imagine seeing big bold letters that says “rejected” on the portal on the 28th. Oh boy! Can’t wait.

Haha glad to see that im not alone. I keep looking at the date and get frustrated when I see that it does not say March 28^-^ Cornell is my #1 choice since they contacted me almost a year ago. sigh I hope financial aid does not decrease, because I cannot afford Cornell without aid. (less than $20,000 income) I applied to CALS. Good luck everyone!

omg me too! I think we have similiar problems. :stuck_out_tongue: But yeah for us, we automatically qualify for full rides if we get in even if financial aid changes.

Omg we’re all low income.:heart::heart:

@Angelus292: Are you a NYS resident? if so, did you apply EOP for CALS?

@lilmelonred: No, I am from a rural area in Tennessee^-^

hey guysss, i heard yesterday somebody from my school was contacted and asked if she wants to be considered for h/eop…does it mean anything though? i mean, does that suggest that she is probably inadmissible but admission officers wanna consider her for h/eop so that she might get in?

Even if s/he gets evaluated for H/EOP, it’s still very competitive in that s/he might or might not get in for H/EOP.

And yeah that’s probably why they called him or her and asked if want to be considered for that program.

I figure that being contacted for the H/EOP is a good sign, even if its going to be competitive. I know I’ve been contacted by the financial aid office twice in 2 weeks.^-^ The first was justa letter in the mail (just deadlines and stuff) But on 3/27 they sent me a reminder again in a email and even asked for the Complete the Financial Aid Application Certification, which scared me till I figured out it wasnt due till June 15.XD

Financial aid application certification? I was never notified about that… Where do you complete the app? online?

The financial aid application certification is a part of your financial aid materials. You can download it from Cornell’s financial aid page. However, it is not due till June 15.

Financial aid will only be different if you make between 60k and 120k I believe.

From their website:

So they’ll be giving a couple thousand more in loans to students between $60000 and $120000. An internet search tells me that’s between the 49.4 percentile and 80.8 percentile of US family incomes, so it theoretically impacts ~30% of people (though I’m sure Cornell’s average family income is much higher than the nation’s). Will this affect the yield rate? Not substantially I don’t think (but at least little bit), unless they increase EFCs too.
But I think they will have to take a few people from the waitlist because of lower yield. We’ll have to wait and see I guess.

If I get in, I wonder if i’ll be any different in that my family makes under 10,000 a year… I feel like people who go to these top universities all have some kind of money.

^Same.

I wonder that for college in general. How will I adjust?

Yeah! Gotta go shopping for some preppy clothes then. ): lolol.

That moment when one of the Goodwills in my area carries uber name brand things.
Too perf.

We’ll need some Sperrys, lolol.
