Cornell Class of 2020 Early Decision Discussion

@FZM777 I think that’s false, the only difference for international students is that its much harder to get financial aid

@plzacceptmee From what I know the US government gives private universities permission to admit a certain maximum number of international students.

@plzacceptmee no, it is true.

It’s true they can’t take as many internationals and those acceptance rates tend to be lower than domestics. If you’re an international I’d still be hopeful because you’re unique! Not everyone can say they lived in India or China and still did well on American exams etc …

Plot twist: We all get accepted first round and get great aid

@polyglot05 :)) not even haha I meant for the critical reading section. I cannot math.

@liveitlight you have to fill out a no filing tax return form that’s on Cornell finaid website if you don’t have taxes to report

so were any of you guys actually contacted by the financial aid department asking for missing materials?

nope @natearchibald

me neither
I had to go on to the portal to find that I was missing the non-filing form

I received an email from them. However, it wasn’t due to missing materials, they needed specific information about my situation. They told me they needed the info before December 15, so maybe that’s the cutoff for turning in the materials?

These last days have been so hard. I try not to think about it but there is always that friend or family member that reminds me that decisions come out in a few days. Decisions are so close yet so far… Honestly, I think I would prefer getting rejected than getting deferred. That way I could get my focus on other stuff. Good luck to y’all and to all ILR applicants!

@okie97 did they really tell you the 15th? They told me December 9th

Yeah. Tuesday December 15th.

But I’m applying to CALS, which is public not private. Maybe that’s different?

Yeah could be

@fzm777 hmm weird, I’m an American citizen living in Canada, and I originally thought they only allowed in a certain quota of foreigners each year, and then I went to a university fair and I remember (probably wrongly then) the Cornell rep saying that being international only makes a difference for financial aid. I might have misunderstood, maybe the rep was referring to how the process works for American citizens living abroad.

Hey everyone! I applied ED, and just wanted to stop in and say hello to all ED applicants. All the best to you guys!

@NICE8x hahahaha yes I am a huge fan of Michael Buble
