Cornell Class of 2020 Guaranteed Transfer Discussion Thread

Serious Q. When do we get our letter

@verizonwireless received by email today. My son is seriously considering their offer. He will attend either Michigan State or Ohio State his first year

@Suceed is he CALS or ILR…

Because so many ppl from CALS got their letter today

Im ILR and still noting

I didn’t get mine either. Other people from years past said people got their emails at different times so we shouldn’t worry about it. @verizonwireless

So is being wait listed better or worse? Do I still have a chance at GT? I’m wait listed for SHA.

@verizonwireless He is CALS. I 'm sure you will get the letter when ILR sends them out. You have until June 1 to tell them you are interested

Just out of curiosity…

Did every rejected applicant get a GT offer?

@verizonwireless No everyone who was rejected did not get this offer.

@CAMidwestMom Roughly how many students got the GT offer.

just because I’m curious… I had an alumni ambassadors meeting with the Cornell alum from my area. He said he couldn’t contact me unless I was accepted. Being that I received a GT, is he allowed to contact me or am I allowed to contact him?

Does anyone know the criteria or requirements for the SHA transfer options? I called SHA admissions on Friday and they told me that they were on Ivy Moratorium until monday.

@jacbellini I’m pretty sure you can still contact him.
My alumni ambassador might actually be at the school i attend before i attempt to transfer so that would be conflicting if i told him

My other option would be going to Ohio State so i might see @Suceed 's son there

@Carmeninmadrid2 You’re going to need a 3.0 for each semester and probably professor recommendations as well

That’s the same for all transfers. Unless you’re majoring in the Biological Sciences in which case you need a 3.5 gpa

Has anyone been rejected with a GT transfer option even if all the prereqs including a 3.0 GPA are met?

I don’t think we need professor recommendations just mid semester grades from professors

Don’t know if this is the right place to ask but can you appeal for a direct admission this year if offered guaranteed transfer?

@Mikeystripes I’m planning on appealing unless the letter they send explaining the transfer in detail (haven’t gotten mine yet) tells me explicitly not to contact them about it. Might say something about my 3rd quarter grades, additional AP exams I’m taking (even though I already mentioned this in a supplemental letter after my deferral), etc… I’m 99.9% sure there’s no way they’ll change their minds but it can’t hurt to try!

I don’t think you can appeal

60 freshman were offered Jan 2017 admits according to the Cornell Sun but does anyone know how many where offered the Fall 2017 transfer option?

that is correct
