Cornell Class of 2020 Regular Decision Discussion Thread

We had three items that said initiated until 2 days ago. They FINALLY dropped off. Now, there is nothing pending. The hyper-sensitive paranoid person in me wondered all day yesterday if it was a good thing or bad thing. Today, I’m just not worrying about it at all. Either way, I’m glad to see there’s nothing pending!

Edit: I did have everything into IDOC by 2/15 also. I knew it was there, but it took a little bit of time for the FA office to get to it I guess.

@dlfarthing March 31 along with every other school except SHA and ILR

@senior12321 That is true, except for when it isn’t. Apparently some folks started hearing last week. Maybe cream of the crop but who knows?

I’ve only heard of them releasing decisions on same day as other ivys except for the likely letters that come in mid march.

@dlfarthing I don’t think anyone has heard yet but URM and engeneer woman come out soon

So basically we have no idea, other than the hard deadline of 4/1 right? Apparently some hear earlier and that may or may not include likely letters, top tier candidates, certain majors, certain schools or certain groups. This is why I hate this… Sorry, not directed at anyone here. Of course it’s good to share whatever info we have. I just wish the schools would spell it out.

@senior12321 what do you mean “engineering women”?

@Ballerina016 women engineers get advantage like URM due to their rarity that’s a universal idea for Ivy colleges

@senior12321 what do you mean “URM and engineering women come out soon”? Are you assuming they are special targets of Likely Letters? Is that what you’re asserting?

@T26E4
Every year Cornell sends URM and women in engineering letters that invite them to a diversity hosting event if they are accepted. It’s basically a likely letter as it comes out around mid march.

Not to say that other applicants won’t receive likely letters but the event is focused towards minorities and w.o.e.

Ok. thanks.

Hi, why there is exception for SHA and ILR? Are these two schools notify students earlier than March 31? Thanks.

Yea I was wondering the same thing. I applied to ILR and although I am happy I will hear back sooner, I don’t understand why it is a different date.

@jgalls Congratulations! Thanks for the reply. When did you hear the good news for ILR?
Have you submitted all documents required in your IDOC? If yes, would that be an reason to hear the news sooner?

has anyone received a decision from ILR or SHA yet?

Just FYI one of my docs that I sent through IDOCs continued to say ‘initiated’ after all the rest dropped off. I called Cornell Fin Aid today and the lady was very nice. She fixed it and said it was no trouble and that it’s always best to call in if you aren’t sure of something. She also said to keep an eye out because they will email if they need anything to supplement the info we sent in.

Does anyone know if we will be notified of admission decision by email or (an email directing you to the portal) or my regular mail?

For my sister there was a set time like 5pm when everyone can login and view their decision. They put a countdown on their website.

Will the decisions be released only on 31st March or before?

@McKilla99 ILR & SHA will be sent out early march. the rest will be posted on the portal on ivy day
