Is the diversity email the same as a likely letter?
Hi guys! Congrats to all who got the LL. Just wondering, was it only for diversity such as woman in engineering or URM?
“This special invitation is extended to you because of your strong academic and personal record and because you will be admitted to Cornell University’s Class of 2020.”

@wifigirl the diversity email said that I “will be admitted to Cornell University’s Class of 2020” and that the “admittance packet is in the mail”. I am personally regarding it with more gravitas than a typical LL, but they may have all said that, diversity and LLs alike.
I GOT the likely letter and I’m international! I am so happy right now that I can’t even be sad about getting rejected from MIT. It’s nice to receive an acceptance and a rejection in the same day
@dianaDM Same, I got rejected then checked my email, so I couldn’t be sad for too long! Interesting that they said 50% of the admitted class of first-year engineers are women, that’s pretty cool! 
My DD also received the same Likely acceptance / Email . I have a question. Is it possible to request to switch form normal admission to a “guaranteed transfer”? My DD would like to take the first two years in our State school (since she already has tons of college credits there due to dual enrollment)

@senioritis07 no, Asians are not a minority in any of the Ivys and schools often associated with the Ivys
@senioritis07 I think only African-American/Blacks, Latinos/as, Native Americans, and 1st Gen are what’s considered URM. ((Correct me if I’m wrong!))

@dianaDM Same with me!!! Except I got the cornell email first, then MIT. So, it was a great day overall because I honestly didn’t have a shot at MIT! Plus, Cornell will let me take a wider expanse of humanities courses
