My daughter applied to the College of Engineering and did not get the women in engineering LL, but she’s been accepted to both MIT and Caltech. I thought it would be just the opposite, and that her chances would be better at Cornell.
I am a black female who applied as a chemical engineering major. I received the diversity letter at about 2:33 PM PST today! So happy!

Hi guys… I am an international applicant to Cornell for R.D and I got a “likely” letter. I didn’t think cornell sent likelies to internationals so please chance me. What does it mean?
@schroscat How do you know that there are only six hundred spots left?
@bygrace2016 Rejoice! You’re probably getting in.
@aBitOfLuck It’s just my guess.
No that isn’t right. Cornell admitted about 1300 students in the ED round and admits about 6,000 overall. So if about 400 were offered Diversity invites there are still around 4,000 offers of admission to be made on the 31st.
@Dragonflygarden how many of the remaining 4000 got a likely letter…?
@lolacell I would make a blind guess and peg the number at around…100 maybe?
I didn’t get any letters (not a URM and not a woman in engineering so i wasn’t expecting a diversity hosting) but weren’t people talking about an email that confirmed the admission notification date? I didn’t even get that and I’m worried that it’s bad news.
@bygrace2016 Did you get women in engineering or diversity likely letter?
@hayley636 No, there was no other email. We know the official date is the 31st because all Ivies release on the same date and I believe a couple of them have confirmed the 31st. No worries!
@hayley636 I got an email on Friday at 4:40 from the head of admissions at CHE (as I am a CHE applicant) confirming that admissions decisions are to be posted at 5EDT on March 31st. Not sure what it’d mean that you didn’t get such an email, maybe the college you applied to within Cornell doesn’t send them.
@LViaLViaquez I also applied to CHE… feel like this doesn’t bode well for me
(If it makes the URMs feel better, ~600 URMs enrolled, and if only 400 diversity letters were sent, remember there’s still hope. More so because more are admitted than enroll)
My daughter received the email invitation yesterday… :x
Congrats to all that have been accepted!

@hayley636 @itsmyusername I also didn’t get an email confirming the decision release date and time. I applied to CALS so maybe only some colleges get the email?
Yeah, I didn’t get a confirmation date email either and I applied CAS.
Just got an LL, applied to CAS.
BUT I didn’t get a diversity email, just a regular LL
