Cornell Class of 2020 Regular Decision Discussion Thread

@CCSenioritis If you don’t mind me asking, what sold you on Cornell? I’m having a hard time debating between some of my colleges (and I’ve never visited there), so it would be really helpful for me! ((also, it’s an open question if anyone else wants to answer))

The moderators will probably take care of the multiple results threads.

@itsmyusername I’ve been interested in Cornell for a few years. I probably first started taking this interest seriously when i got my internship at my local university and started studying human development. Cornell was the only school that had a school with a human development major AND actually cared about it tbh. CHE loves all their students and they’re very personal so premed advising, or anything really is super easy to get access to. The faculty are one of a kind and the few that I’ve been able to speak with have offered so much that I don’t think I would ever be able to thank them enough. I visited in the summer and that’s really when I fell in love even further! The classes they offer as opposed to the other top schools are so interesting to me personally. The campus is so beautiful and the land around it is breathtaking. The campus is really just somewhere that I’ve envisioned myself walking through for a long time now, and so now that i have that opportunity, I can’t not take it!
Watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuM8vTq0jd4 It’s a bit long(18min) but it’s worth investing time in watching because it’s a big decision.
Also watch this video : https://vimeo.com/23897683 A lot shorter but still important haha. Watch both and that should influence your decision : )

@CCSenioritis did you get in.

@DAVE437 Yes!! I received the Diversity Hosting email yesterday, so excited!

@CCSenioritis Thanks for telling me! At an appropriate time, could you post the link to the existing one?

@jackisawesome THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! I hope you guys get in too!!!

@CCSenioritis Wow I just watched the 18 min one and Cornell is so beautiful!! That was a great video, thanks for sharing!

I received the diversity email yesterday! I’m so excited and can’t wait to visit! I applied for College of Human Ecology. I look forward to meeting some of you in April! :slight_smile:

Congrats @CCSenioritis. That’s great! Thanks for the videos

Lol I didn’t get anything from anywhere. I’m just sitting here binge watching Billions and Breaking Bad :’)

@Grapess It also says this on financial aid FAQ:

“Is Cornell need‐blind for admission for international students?
• Students entering Fall 2016: Admission consideration is need‐blind, meaning that your ability to finance your education does not impact your admissions decision. Admitted students who have applied for international aid and have demonstrated financial need will be considered for any available funds.”

I think you don’t get negatively affected if you apply for aid but they don’t promise you an aid package.

@Dragonflygarden Congrats to your son! Are you a NY resident?

@desie1 No we are OOS

has CALS emailed about decision dates or anything? (obviously, we all know it’s the 31st, but have they sent anything?) deferred ED applicant here, trying to think positive thoughts!!

@blerghnn I applied to CALS but havnt received any emails about dates… hopefully it’s only sent for the other schools

I didn get a likel letter! I am intnl from India. Is it likely that I will be rejected?

@Starior I stand corrected! I didnt realize some schools were need-blind to international (although still need-sensitive). Eh too late for me, it seems. Amd I guess it wont make a difference, anyways, seeing as these schools are stingy when it comes to giving aid to internationals.
