@Chumps Cornell uses the CSS profile so unfortunately your FAFSA EFC doesn’t matter.
Of course it is fair to ask what factors caused your EFC to be so high. Just call them. I’m sure they will try to help as much as possible.

If you have any money in savings or 529s that can be used for tuition they take that off the total also. They also take equity in house into consideration.
Did anyone get there @cornell(dot)edu email yet
Isn’t that when you enroll?
And guys, do you think that sending an email would help with the FA chances, if they do determine FA after admissions?
I just received an email from the financial aid office… I’m not getting any aid this year or beyond.
Got so excited about the program and the campus and the people… And now I can’t go.
@jf2580 Did you receive the letter in the mail from your college yet?
Would it be worth it to send Cornell my FA offer from Colgate? Their EFC was significantly lower than Cornell’s. I know Colgate isn’t Ivy League, so they probably won’t match it. I’m just hoping that since it’s a competitive school, they will at least consider it. Is it worth my time?
@violanation I don’t think so. They have online exactly who they will match. You could just ask for a review but you probably need some reason for it like job loss or excessive medical expenses etc.
@violanation In a physical letter to @Anonymoose3 Cornell stated they would match any other Ivy school, Standford, MIT and Duke FAs. However, I would send any FA which is higher and let them determine if applicable or not.
FYI inserted below is statement from Columbia: “If your family’s situation has changed since you submitted your financial aid application, or if another school’s need-based financial aid package has provided a different interpretation of your family’s financial circumstances, please be sure to let us know. We would be happy to review other need-based financial aid packages you may have received to determine whether a change to our decision would be appropriate.”
Some of the other schools that I applied to gave me a tentative financial aid breakdown based on the information I sent through the FAFSA and CSS. Does Cornell do that too? I haven’t submitted the tax returns yet… my parents take forever with this stuff lol.
Didn’t know much about Cornell until I got accepted, then I loved it. Once I was finally happy with the college I’m going to, I received no aid. I find this really devastating.
Just as a reference for future applicants: I got a likely letter and still wasn’t awarded any financial aid, so there’s no correlation between them. And the ones not getting the financial aid on this thread haven’t had a financial aid letter in their (our) acceptance package, so I do think those getting the aid will have one in theirs.
Fyi, I got a lot of financial aid, but nothing in my acceptance package
I am making a very tough decision between Cornell and UChicago right now; would anyone be able to help me out?
I would greatly appreciate it!!!
My son was selected as a Meinig Family Cornell National Scholar, the letter came today. Did anybody get one? Does anybody have more information about the program and activities? Thank you
@cpretiz are you an international applicant?
@MohTamer I share your frustration, we are in a similar situation. Even with some financial aid is just impossible to afford the cost over 4 years.
@ReminiscingDad You will be getting a letter in the mail soon which really details what Meinig is about. You can also go to the website, which gives more information about things like Freshman Forum and Mentoring with administrators.
Is there any chance that Cornell would reevaluate the internationals students who didn’t receive financial aid after 1 May when some applicants might withdraw their applications?
I am also an international student admitted to Cornell and recieved a likely letter was not offered finaid. Has any international admit gotten theirs?
