Hello, everyone!
I submitted my application as a mathematics major a few days ago and since them I’ve been really anxious to find out whether I got in or not. Cornell is my my #1 school and I really really want to go there. Here are my stats:
- GPA: 3.976 (unweighted), 4.376 ( official weighted), 4.60 (UC weighted)
- rank: 1/603
- Passed 7/7 AP exams (AP Biology: 3, AP World History: 5, AP United States History: 4, AP Physics 1: 3, AP Calculus: 5, AP English Language: 3, AP Spanish Language: 4)
- SAT Score: 2050 (CR: 630, M: 770, W: 650)
- ACT Score: 30 (E: 31, M: 31, W: 31, S: 28)
- SAT Subject Test Scores: 700 (Spanish Language), 710 (World History), 790 (Mathematics Level 2), 630 (Chemistry), and 620 (U.S. History)
- I'm taking 5 AP classes right now (Macro Econ, American Govt., Stats, English Lit, and Chem), leadership, and yearbook
- I'm currently National Honor Society president, Key Club secretary, ASB treasurer, and a yearbook editor. I was Council for Student Intellectuals president last year, along with Spanish Club secretary and Ethics Bowl treasurer
- 500+ hours of community service from Key Club
- volunteered at a hospital every other day for a year (100 hours)
- volunteered at a library every day after school (9th and 10th grade)
- did research on cranes over the summer of 2015 with scientists from the Earthwatch Institute in Texas
- raised over $125 for the Trevor Project, a suicide prevention hotline for LGBT+ youth
- I'm also an ap scholar with distinction, questbridge finalist, and a recognized outside division officer for key club
- I'm hispanic, the son of immigrant parents, first-generation to go to college, and kind of poor (my 2015 household income was about 30k for a family of five)
So do you think I have a good shot of getting in? I’d really appreciate feedback from anyone, especially current students or anyone who was admitted to a school as selective as Cornell.
Thank you!
