Cornell Class of 2021 Guaranteed Transfer Discussion Thread

@idekidc I think it is college-specific to CALS. I found out through Chatter.

Does anyone know if we were supposed to send our end of the year high school transcripts?

Yea, were supposed to send in our high school transcripts but not right now. When we submit the TO application.

umm cornell emailed me asking for my transcript

@quitenervous Cornell asked for my transcripts as well a few weeks ago. I was a bit confused since I thought we submit them after the TO application.

@Pugslife yeah same. That’s why I was confused. so I sent it over a while ago

Do you think that Cornell would say, “Hey, your final high school grades were crap so we’re rescinding our offer,” at any time before the submission of our gt applications?

Yeah

@quitenervous They might rescind the offer or tell you it’s no longer a GT and then put you in the regular pool??

Has anyone already fulfilled their transfer requirements for Fall semester? If so, for Spring semester are you going to register for classes that interest you or are you going to take classes that might get you ahead for Sophomore year-depending upon if you are in CALS, SHA or ILR, etc.?

@Pugslife wow you’re so lucky haha. My current school makes it hard for me to choose the classes that I want. That is why I have to take one summer course over the summer to complete my requirements. And if were you, I would probably take classes that will keep you on track for the completion of your major.

did anyone actually sent their applications yet?

Do we have to submit an application on the Common App?

@quitenervous people who received the transfer option received a shortened application from Cornell, so I didn’t submit anything from the Common App

How long should the essay be for the TO application? It doesnt say any limit or recommendation, so Im not sure how to organize my essay…

@cheto212 if you are applying as a guaranteed transfer, you do not have an essay to complete; however, if you’re applying as a non-guarantee then I think the word limit is 650. See below. Good luck!

Writing Supplement Essay (all applicants to complete)
Please address the topics below in an essay of approximately 650 words total.
Tell us what you’d like to major in at Cornell, and why or how your past academic or work experience influenced your decision, and how transferring to Cornell would further your

For human ecology applicants, what classes did you take for the labs requirements?

Does anyone happen to know which schools offer the guaranteed transfer offer? Specifically, does engineering offer it?

@3musketeers, unfortunately, I have not seen any engineers with a “GT.”

@Pugslife I think Im the “Guaranteed” TO application, since I have a shortened application process. However, human ecology applicants need to respond to this:

Please use the file upload below to attach a letter/essay to this application that (a) explains your current academic goals, relating them specifically to your intended major; (b) describes how you spend your nonacademic time.

But no word requirement so not sure how to go about this lol. Any help would be appreciated
