Cornell Class of 2021 Guaranteed Transfer Discussion Thread

@pugslife I think about 5 from CALS are

If I’m on the wait list for CALS how much of a chance do I have of getting a GT offer?

there’s a groupme for cornell guaranteed transfer students if anyone’s interested

what is it @tbh1234

has anyone gotten an email besides the automated transfer option confirmation?

@quitenervous - I have not received anything else besides the confirmation.
What else were you expecting to receive?
BTW, my college is ILR

@cricketfan I am just making sure I’m not missing anything. and same. ILR BABY

@quitenervous and @cricketfan ILR here too, nothing either besides the email.

Will cornell check senior grades again or do we just need to submit college grades when we apply for transfer?

@cornelltransfer518 i think they are going to check them, but email one of the staff to confirm when we send it

Hi, new to College Confidential, but since this is one of very few resources on the Cornell TO, I’ve decided to make an account.
I was offered a transfer option for the fall semester of 2018 to the ILR school and I’m curious to know if anyone out there already knows what courses they’ll be taking to meet the transfer credit requirements. I got a bit too anxious and sent an email to the ILR transfer counsellor last week (big mistake) and he’s asking me for a list of courses I’m considering.

@sprinkle i tried emailing them but they don’t respond :frowning:

My senior grades are currently very low but if I do well in college will I still be able to transfer successfully ?

What do you mean “very low”? This is my own assumption, but I’d think they would prefer it if your senior year gpa wasn’t lower than their mandated minimum gpa when transferring. What I mean is, if they say you need a minimum 3.3 gpa your freshman year in college to transfer, then you should probably not get a gpa lower than a 3.3 your last semester of high school as well. That’s only my assumption though, and you should probably wait for a response from Cornell personally (it’s ok if they don’t respond to your email within three days, it’s not like instant messaging or text so give them some time).

So this is kind of a dumb question but what are people wearing to school on decision day? Are you wearing anything cornell related for just the something from the school you’re attending Freshman year.

@quitenervous my friends cornell gear hopefully

Does any of your high schools use Naviance? I wonder how our TO is going to be represented on their graphs?

@pleonasitcasian - Have you decided on which college you will be going for your freshman year?
If yes, then look up their course catalog and shortlist the courses that you think will satisfy the TO requirements. Then look up their Fall and Spring course schedule of your Freshman college and see which ones of those classes you will be able to take (depending on availability of classes and timings etc.).
Come up with a list of classes for each of the two semesters keeping in mind the minimum 15 credit requirement and send that list to Ian. Remember to include the description of classes from the course catalog (don’t send him web-links or attachment of course catalog. Only send him the list of classes that you are choosing).
I sent my list last week and have not heard back, but he must have been busy with the Cornell days so I think he will get it this week hopefully.

@cricketfan I’ve already skimmed both my first-year college’s and Cornell’s catalogs but there are so many courses to choose from. And it’s not like I can choose any course I want to take, all of them have to make sense in terms of scheduling and availability. I feel like sending an email to Ian last week was jumping the gun too early, because now I’m getting this sense that I need to make my entire freshman year schedule already.

@pleonasitcasian - That is what I did. It was painful because not every course is actually taught at my college (even though it is in the catalog), also not every course is taught in both semesters and then there are overlapping class timings which mean I could only take one of the two.
Overall it took me a few hours to come up with a schedule. I hope Ian does not reject it because then I will have to go through the same exercise again.
