Cornell Class of 2021 prefreshman summer program requirement

did anyone else get a condition in their cornell acceptance letter saying they had to attend the prefreshman summer program? its kind bumming me out because its basically going to take up the majority of my last summer home, and alot of people so far from previous posts from previous years said its mostly for heop/eop students, but i didnt apply as one. my grades and sat scores are pretty ok, 94.5 average, 1390 new sat . so why did i get selected? and should i feel as though they dont think ill succeed at cornell? i did get an invitation to the diversity hosting weekend btw, but im not planning on going

I’m afraid your New SAT 1390 does not concord well with ACT and Old SAT. E.g. Prep Scholar has 1390 equating to 30 ACT. What’s your intended major?

@JAMCAFE my intended major is biological sciences, but i was also accepted into nyu and northwestern both with no conditional, and for the class of 2021, northwestern has a lower acceptance rate than cornell, so thats why im so confused

My D has a 33 ACT and her offer from Cornell engineering is conditional too. She was invited to Diversity Hosting and will attend before making a final decision. She’s in at UT Austin Chemical Engineering which is ranked 3rd in the nation. She is leaning towards Rice because of the residential college and she’ll revisit rice next week.

If I were you I’d try to go to admit days at your top two or three choices before committing.

Everyone I know who did the Pre-freshman Summer Program absolutely LOVED it. It’s a great time to start early and make everlasting friendships. Also, the campus is incredibly beautiful during the summer. Looking back, had I known about the program, I totally would have done it 100%. I wish I could have done PSP as an incoming freshman.

They offered it to a lot of minority and/or first generation college students alongside HEOP. I didnt apply as HEOP?EOP but I am a minorty and first gen college so I was selected for the program. When I visited during Diversity Hosting many freshman wish they had been chosen for the program because it was so awesome!
