Cornell class of 2024 Transfer Option

I got the exact same email. Does that mean we’re guaranteed to get in for sophomore year as long as we meet the GPA and class requirements?

That seems to be the common consensus! If you look at recent threads on r-ddit, you can also see that most people still consider it guaranteed + there seems to be leeway even if you don’t meet the requirements (they may accept you even if you’re slightly below the GPA requirement/grade requirement - not sure how common this is, so I wouldn’t count on it haha)

here are the things on the application (generally - also from r-ddit)
1.high school transcript
2. first semester grades official transcript
3. midterm report
4. college report about disciplinary history (this one seems to be really important!!)
5. online application about classes, test scores/stats + personal information
6. CHE may require an essay (correct me if I’m wrong + let me know if other schools at Cornell require different things!)

no application fee or teacher recommendations!

Hey yall,

I also received the Transfer Option from Cornell (CALS) and I was wondering what your latest email from Cornell was regarding the Transfer Option? The last email I got from the CALS Admissions Team was at March 27 and asked me to fill out the TO form.

I filled out the TO form and said I was pursuing the TO.

Please let me know if anyone got any other email because I feel like I should be getting updates/confirmation.

Hello! I also got the TO from CALS. The last time I was updated was the 27th as well. I think we might start hearing from them in May or June (just a guess!) when WL has been sorted out bc people from WL can also get the TO. I didn’t get a confirmation email about the form either, but I don’t think they send any out

Great, thanks so much!

Any chance if there’s room you could add me ?

Sure! Add my snap (@xxhgxx) and I’ll send you the Whatsapp link

Anyone making a Facebook group/

I agree ^^ we should make a FB group in case anyone who doesn’t have CC wants to join!

I just read that Drexel is on a “quarter system” (not semester). I would think you’d still have the ability to earn a GPA that would work for the Cornell transfer option… just wondering if anyone knows if a quarter system would create any problems for meeting the transfer requirements? Trying to figure out best option for the next year if wait list doesn’t come through…so the transfer option works.

It should be fine! These are the directions for SHA, have you tried contacting Drexel to ask about the conversion or checking their website for semester conversions?

https://sha.cornell.edu/admissions-programs/undergraduate/how-to-apply/transfer-option-faq/

"In your college catalog, there will be a paragraph on the school’s credit system, and it should also provide the conversion from that credit to semester hours. If not, you may want to contact the registrar of your college to ask how these credits will convert to the semester system.

For the quarter system, we generally calculate that 1 quarter-system credit = .666 semester credits. Please note that we do not round up (e.g., if the total number of credits towards graduation requirements = 15.9, you will receive 15 credits.)"

I was initially offered the waitlist at Dyson. One week later, they sent me info about the TO option, which I thought meant that I probably wasn’t getting in for this year, but yesterday I was admitted! It is very exciting but I was also ready to save a year of tuition at another school and then transfer if I wanted to and I think that option goes away. Is anyone in the same position?

That’s amazing …congratulations!!

Thank you! @Luckyjade2024

@gennabelle1 That’s really great news and thanks for sharing those details. If you want to go to Cornell, you probably should take that spot now. I doubt you could defer for a year and go to the lower tuition school, but maybe it can’t hurt to ask with things going the way they are? I am no expert - just offering opinions, so if anyone else has better advice definitely listen! How long do you have to commit to their offer for a spot?

Yes good advice. I’ll have five days to decide once I receive my financial package.

I did.

I spoke to one of the TO advisors a week ago. Admission for DYSON, I’m not too sure about other colleges, is guaranteed upon meeting the set requirements (I.e GPA & courses). Being that only a very small percentage (less than 1%) of applicants are offered the TO, the only reason you would be turned down by Cornell for admission the following year is if you fail to meet said requirements. Besides that, the TO application is easy and your spot is secured.

@Cookieluver , can you add me in the WhatsApp chat as well? I’m adding you on snap

Hi all i am offered TO to Human Ecology , Please add me to the group
