Cornell CoE chance me please

Please chance me for the following schools, looking to go into engineering

MIT
Cornell
Carnegie mellon
Lehigh
Rpi
johns hopkins

any suggestions are welcome as well....

I am a rising senior (white male) at a new jersey magnet high school that focuses on math science and engineering

Qpa is roughly 97 (out of 100), very consistent grades over three years. Consitent 96-99 in maths and sciences and 95+ in history and other classes and 92-94 in English classes.

Aps taken junior year (not available earlier) were calc AB physics c:mechanics and Ap chemistry (all between 96-100). Next year I am taking Ap biology, Ap physics c:elec and magnet, Ap euro history, Ap econ(micro macro), Ap calc BC.

I took the SAT once and got 800 math 760 reading and 780 writing.

Took subject tests once and got 800 math II and 790 physics.

I also took the ACT once to to try it without studying and got a 33 composite (probably won't send this score anywhere).

Awards :
technology award sophomore year
Ap physics award junior year
my team got an honorable mention in the moodys math challenge (top 5 percent)
student of the month freshman and sophomore year

Extracurriculars:
Robotics club 4 years (most likely be vice prez and head of mech engineering next year) (i really focus on robotics during build season)

science Olympiad jr/sr year

My main interest outside of school is nature and birdwatching (i have birded since age 6) and I volunteer often at local naturalist/birding opportunities but it is not that many hours (maybe 50 total)

I also have a job as a swim instructor at the local YMCA and have worked there for 3 years.

not too may ec's/hours but Im hoping what I lack in quantity I make up in quality

rec letters I am getting from Ap phys teacher, history teacher and two time technology teacher who is also my robotics mentor. Hopefully they wil be good. Counseler rec will be very very average

finally, I will probably write my essay about birdwatching which is not a common topic and I really have passion for, hopefully I can write a good one.

thanks, I know that this is not the normal format but I think I did a good job typing this all from my phone, any and all comments are appreciated, please be honest but not rude.

I really like the birdwatching topic - it makes you seem more unique because your extracurriculars otherwise are incredibly standard. You should also specify your rank, because GPA doesn’t mean much to anyone if we don’t know the context of it.

Your scores are solid overall, but the extracurriculars really aren’t helping you too much in my opinion. They definitely show that you fit, but they don’t really make you seem like a unique applicant if that makes any sense.

I’d say solid shot ED, RD is much tougher to predict.

Sorry, there are about 70 kids in my grad class and I am roughly number 5/70 and one of the top in the maths and sciences.

Sorry for the late reply, but I’d say you have a solid shot RD. Just continue the trend you’ve set for yourself, if not improve.

Also, lolCowz, my high school does not rank and only provides the qpa. Will colleges not think as highly of my grades if the dont know the context, like you did? My high school is difficult to do as well as i do in, and I know that they provide the “high school profile”, but I am afraid tthat colleges might have the same reaction that you did to my grades.

No they shouldn’t - they know what school you’re applying from and most likely have files on it. But for anyone reading this it’s just tough to give you an idea because we don’t know as much context as you (or hopefully the college) do.

i think you have a good chance.
try to do more EC if you can.
other than that, your grade are great.
