Did any ED applicants get an email from the admissions office about these 3 programs? It included a link to their brochure: http://admissions.cornell.edu/sites/default/files/2011%20commitment%20brochure.pdf.
We are wondering if ED admits are notified in their financial aid packages if they've been selected for one of these programs or if they have to wait until April to find out (the email mentions April).

ED applicants are notified of their financial aid package at about the same time they receive their decisions. That’s why ED applicants have to send their financial aid at the same time their app is due.

@SoccerWolf - that’s what I’m trying to get more information on . . . the email specifically said that admits are notified in April if they’ve been chosen to participate in any of these programs, but, as you’ve mentioned, the FA package is sent out almost coincident with the offer of admission, and since these programs are somewhat relative to aid, I was wondering if the April date was perhaps only applicable to RD students and ED students would find out earlier.

I did get an email but received it before applying ED (aka November 1st deadline, haha). I’ve been interested in knowing this answer too, though from looking at previous threads on this topic, it appears that the emails are a mass mailing to applicants and non-applicants. I couldn’t really find an answer on the Cornell Commitment programs’ notification… I may call and ask if I happen to be accepted - though anyone who knows for sure would be a great help. (:

I also received this before turning in my early application.

Yeah I think the email went to everyone.

@injennious - I’m leaning toward thinking we’d have to wait until April - not just because that’s what the email stated, but also because monetary benefits of the programs (if I recall correctly) are “loan replacements.” So, if your original aid package specified loans, then the applicable portion of the loan(s) would subsequently be offset by one of these programs when & if you are chosen & notified in April. I hope that’s not the case though. What you wanna bet that in the acceptance letters (or another letter), potential students are told they are being “considered” for one of the programs. Just when you think the waiting is over . . .
