Cornell Days

who's going? is it free? is it worth it? I live in Phoenix, Arizona, weather issues? If all the fee I have to pay is air ticket, meals, stay. I'd do it. What's the hosted stay about? I want to experience the dorm room at cornell, will it cost anything? What do you people suggest?

I'd also like to know about this...anyone?

it's free (on campus anyway) and overnight hosting is free, plus you get one free meal ticket (approx cost ~$16). if you are a boy, i suggest you sign up ASAP. why? we have a hard time getting boys to host, and thus, it will most likely be boys that get turned away when we can no longer find hosts for them. good luck, i'm having my meeting tomorrow for red carpet, and I will know more (and what days I am in charge of matching! eek...usually around 50 ppl per night...)

when/where can we sign up?

i can't go cos i'm an intel and the timing would clash with my exams...

i believe you sign up the day of (but i remember that it might be on a first come first serve basis...i can tell you definatively tomorrow once i know what i'm doing) but you MUST have your medical form sheet. they are very stingy about that. i'll get back to you tomorrow for more information. we are doing a few things differently this year, so it is a little unclear as to what will be going on...

caterpede, don't worry, only half of admitted students come to cornell days, so you won't be alone...(it's a shame though, cuz cornell likes to rope you in with their ivy walls and salvating, stomach bursting food). no mention the squirrels and chipmunks ^_^

do you get to go out at night with the person you're staying with an go to parties? i hope it isn't just another boring orientation weekend...

Not unless you get a really cool host:) (j/k)

Seriously, it specifically says on the Cornell Days site that you are not to go to frats, sororities, etc.

if you get JA'd your acceptance can be rescinded. don't take the risk.

so, this year, we are doing it out of RPCC instead of UAO. You can come early and sign in and leave your things there. matching will be at 4:30. it should be online now (my advisor told me it came online this morning) and you should sign up now if you want to stay overnight, especially if you are a boy. if you come before 10am, you should go straight to the CC lot (unless there are no lines at the info booths) next to rpcc because before 10am, transportation will be there to give you a permit if you did not already get one. I suggest doing this so you don't have to wait in line to get a permit and then drive to CC, so you will get a "head start" so to say. good luck, and have fun. remember to bring your medical sheet!

oh, you cannot decide the day of that you want to stay overnight with a host because we do not have waiting list, so if you are signed up as a day visitor, and decide to switch, you will not, no matter what.

where do we sign up online? I tried and cant seem to find it online.

http://cornelldays.cornell.edu/ I found the website

its free, but you have to pay travel and food costs. you cant understand how incredible the campus is without visiting it, how rediculously good the food is without eating it, how awesome the people are without meeting them, how steep the slope is without walking it...

did you guys get your student numbers? cuz i haven't received one yet..

you can call...

i did it a couple of years ago b/c i wanted to see what my bursar was (to see if my housing was on it before they released our housing info)... but i think we are switching to a new number (URGH) but it will be complete AFTER i graduate (so i don't have to memorize this new number yay)

what is this bursar thing?

Hey any Cornellians wanna host me and my friend (not going to Cornell, but coming along ne way), so I don't have to abide by Cornell Day's program? :)

I was just thinking about that spanks haha...i dont like the no frat rule...

I'm going anyway, I'd just rather avoid getting in trouble for it, lol

hahaha, just be like "i'm going for coffee all night with my friend from home"

ack this was post # 911...
