It appears to me, from what I've read earlier in this thread, that:
12 = accepted
1= waitlisted
2= denied

I applied to CAS, my time was 2:44, my stats are pretty weak for Cornell. BUT, can we please get the people who got the likely letters to tell us what time they got?! I think that would be the biggest confirmation.

Is Cornell famous for placing a lot of applicants on the waitlist like Washu? I was waitlisted at Washu and I don't want to be waitlisted again!

From the rumors I've been reading in other forums (the faux acceptances at NU and the hype about the emails at UC Berkeley, etc.), I've learned not to invest too much faith. It could all very well be random. Who knows? I don't feel I have a great chance at all, as I've just been rejected by UCLA, Northwestern, UC Berkeley, and Stanford. I have been accepted to USC, NYU, Boston U and other UCs, but really, who knows?

Dang..... 12:26 engineering here. Forgottenhawk we've been rejected by the same people, cept i was rejected by UCSD (out of state) and i was wait listed at northwestern. Let's hope eh

tnn01, to answer your question about the waitlist, I have read that Cornell is indeed big with the waitlist since many of the people who are qualified for Cornell also apply to Harvard, Princeton, MIT, etc, and if they get into these latter schools, they usually enroll in them rather than Cornell. And so to preserve their yield rate, a critical factor in the college rankings, Cornell has to use the waitlist quite a bit more than the other top schools.

Also, I think since Harvard, Princeton, etc don't have early action this year, it is more difficult for Cornell to differentiate between those that will most likely enroll and those that won't, so the waitlist might get even longer this year.

That's unfortunate because I haven't applied to Harvard, Princeton, MIT or any of those super competitive schools. Cornell is the most competitive one for me.
Sigh, we'll just have to see on Monday.

jl, I agree with you on the time being split by deferred/regular/and colleges. I was deferred and told by the adcom (we'll see on monday if he was telling the truth), but I applied to CALS and I was deferred, and another CALS deferree was in the 1 o'clock hour, so who knows.

Gmen, we are the only people who've posted their times and applied to ILR. We both have 12:26. I thought there were quite a few applicants to ILR on here, I wonder where they all are...I'd love to see if they have the same time.

yes, because there was at least one person at 12:26 who seemed very strong (yes my life is truly boring right now... i searched other posts) she had a 35 and really good stats and it looks like she'd get accepted. i'm hoping for cas regular applicants with no likely, deferral, etc. to be accept-waitlist-reject, but that's just because i'm at 12:26!

i was decently confident with my own, but it wouldn't surprise me to be waitlisted just because it is an ivy league school... and there are a looot of people at 12:26 and a looot of people get waitlisted.

but again. one strong person kinda proves that false, right?

you have no idea how depressing it is to have a time in the 2:00s. 2:04, CAS... i hope this theory is wrong, but obviously by the time I know that I'll know if I'm accepted or rejected.

We need more CAS people with dean awards or likelies.

jl i hope too...i also applied to CAS and had a time of 12:26, but my GPA sucks and my scores are around average for Cornell...I guess if they looked at my ECs and supplements I might be ok, but again my chances are <10%
