cornell decision email: wrong submitted date?

The likely letter people have times than span across the 1 o'clock range.

As for the notion that CC has more overachievers, that is true, but there is simply no hard numbers to support the notion that something like half or three quarters of the people here would be accepted. A part of this perception comes from the fact that a large proportion of people who post in the decision threads are accepted - but that's because rejected people are much less likely to post their stats/decisions, because of, well, common sense. At the same time, there could also be a lot of 12 or 1 o'clockers who haven't posted.

That leaves the possibility of both 1 and 2 o-clockers being rejected (because it doesn't make sense to do it in the order of rejected-accepted-rejected instead of accepted-rejected-rejected), but as we've seen, all of people with LLs are 1 o'clockers, so this possibility is an impossibility.

I'm pretty sure the theories re. ordering by last name and location are refuted in previous posts.

That leaves the final possibility: is it ordered according to whether people used primary/alternate admissions?

But didn't the majority of applicants NOT use primary/alternate choice? I know many Cornell applicants, but none that did the P/A.

I didn't use P/A either.

Of course, it is very possible that they ordered people according to their PIN numbers/etc., but that's basically the same as total randomness.

(D'oh--read the thread, and didn't catch it the first time)

this might be true

Im a male from VA, applied CAS, 2:34PM, ALL stats <25%, spent 30 minutes on essays, bland ecs....Im probably as bad as they come

I guess I applied more as a joke, just so i could say i applied ivy

also i was waitlisted from UVA (instate too haha), so i have no hopes here

also, be careful with likely letter assumptions. I read that at least 4 people got Likely Letters from UVA and were then rejected. everyone was all shocked and ppl kept saying "i didnt know this could happen!"

that doesnt make sense. I submitted mine 1/1 and my thing is 12:26

(D'oh--read the thread, and didn't catch it the first time)

Its Already Been Established That There Is No Relation From When You Submitted Your App To The Time In The Email. Geez Read The Thread Ppl

Erm... Very likely just an oversight on my part, but where did we establish that?

i think it was like 5 pages ago or closer to the beginning but we did think about that already

Is there any substancial evidence as to why people are saying that the 2'o clock people are already the rejected group? People seem to be stating this as a fact and I would like to know why/

heres my reasoning. I SUCK and My time was 2:34 PM. Lemme share some stats with you

SAT1- 1270/1600, 1870/2400
SATII- USH 670, MathI-520
ACT-27
GPA- 3.5UW, 4.0W
only 2 Leadership spots
i spent 30 minutes on the essay
very bland EC's
low community service hours (50)
no research, published worked, national competitions
mediocre teacher recs
my guidence counselor is new so im sure her rec is bland
if they're holistic, i hvent showed any interest

yeah so thats how qualified I am.

Can you really base this on one person?

berryb08 if u go back and read through the entirety of the thread you will see that many more people in the 2s commented that they wouldnt be likely to get in based on their stats... where the likelys are in the 1s and there are many very strong candidates in both the 1s and 12s... thats my reasoning but to be sure this is no definitive data

For this year's RD thread, besides stats, people are probably required to post the submission time as well

buuut although it really appears 2 is the rejection time, the 12s and 1s still confuses me. yes, there are 3 engineering likelys in the 1 slot (are there any others we know of?) but there are at least several pretty strong candidates i found in the 12s. could it be that 12/1 is split up differently than waitlist or admit? like arranged by school and whether they were a regular applicant, deferred applicant, likely letter candidate, rated level, etc?

^I know, it's kind of neurotic, but I love it!

let's keep arguing for 12 you guys it gives me hope lol cuz im 12:26

ditto... exactly 12:26 as you :)
