Cornell decisions

Even Canadians?

person A: the competition for girls is even stiffer
person B: even for blond girls?

Cornell, if I am not mistaken, treats Canadian citizens as international sudents. Don't take my word for it, check the application for financial aid and the website.

If they treat you as an international student, then the available spots are very few and your country of origin would make little difference.

I think that transfer admissions for international students should be needblind because a large percent of the Cornell accepted inernational students cannot afford to go there and end up passing by the offer. If their spots get filled with random waitlisted applicants, chances are they won't be international. Why not just take people amongst the ones that can go there, if you are not going to give them much money anyhow?

United States citizens and permanent residents, Canadian citizens and permanent residents, and Mexican citizens are eligible for consideration for the financial aid and financing options described on the Financial Aid Web site. Cornell University maintains only a very limited program of financial assistance for international students who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States, Canada, or Mexico.

militarythreat:

Did you request an expedited decision from the engineering college?

I'm surprised they notified you so soon... I thought they wouldn't even start until May.

Now I'm getting anxious!

Militarythreat: I'm really sorry to hear about that. You were had excellent stats and should have gotten in. Good luck with Duke, hopefully they're friendlier to international students.

yes, I heard that Duke'd start notifying from May 1 so I requested Cornell to release my decision. Obviously, I didnt mention the name Duke'.

Maybe I should make up a reason for Cornell to release my decision early. :D

On the other hand, that might just expedite my rejection....

Yeah, I wouldn't do anything that would make them examine you in a more critical fashion. That's just me though :0

the two people on CC who asked for expedite decisions were rejected. despite the lack of apparent direct relationship, i would advise you to stay put.

military threat, is that true about duke?

what is true abt Duke? May 1st decision??....Yes, 2 ppl I know called the admission office at Duke and checked it out....however I personally havent called them.

since after 12 tonight will technically be monday, can we expect to start receiving decisions then, or will we have to wait until monday night?

I would doubt it on account of the fact that there was nobody in the office on Saturday or Sunday to make any decisions. I suspect they have a program they use to enter in the decisions, and that program uploads the information at a set time.

Just be patient. The decision will come when it comes.

Yeah, you guys are right. I definitely won't request an expedited decision any time soon (but if it gets close to the end of May, I might have to).

I can just here the admissions person mumbling "So, he wants a decision now? Oh, I'll give him him a decision!" :D

Hi all,
I'm applying to Cornell's College of Engineering. I go to University of Arizona (top 100 in the field of engineering I think) and have completed some tough courses. Here are my stats:

*applying for: Engineering physics major
*current gpa: 3.800
*letter of recs: solid. i sent 4 in total...
*EC's: excellent (intellectual ec, holding a world record and have participated in world tournaments).
*letters: overall, good -I spent a LONG time on them, but I'm more of an engineer than a writer ;). a few english majors told me they were "better than average..."
*high school gpa: 4.0+ weighted (unranked high school, but a very selective high school)
*SATs: 720 math, 720 math iic, the rest are significantly lower... (which scares me). hopefully they won't look at my SATs as much since I'm a transfer applicant.

So, is anyone kind enough to tell me my chances? Thanks
btw, this forum is really cool.

some amazing ppl are applying to Cornell this fall for transfer.

BTMORGAN himself/herself is a world record holder, and has participation in world tournaments.......there was another guy (sorry i have to check back for his name) who claims to have taken two 400. level math course plus a grad-math course and he still is a freshman (May God keep blessing him). And most of the guys I know have spectacular acheivements. Go Cornell go, you have the pool to choose from.

And specifically, this guy with a grad course will rock Cornell. Watch out folks. He is the next Putnam winner. He will smoke out MIT and Harvard kids.

What do u say ppl? Aint I right?

"Mr. Kripke, a rabbi's son, grew up in Omaha, and by all accounts was a true prodigy, so brilliant and precocious that the so-called prodigies of today are by comparison mere shadows flickering on the wall of our collective cave. In the fourth grade he discovered algebra, which he later said he could have invented on his own, and by the end of grammar school he had mastered geometry and calculus and taken up philosophy. While still a teenager he wrote a series of papers that eventually transformed the study of modal logic. One of them, or so the legend goes, earned a letter from the math department at Harvard, which hoped he would apply for a job until he wrote back and declined, explaining, 'My mother said that I should finish high school and go to college first.'"

stupid prereqs. 400 level math is so easy that after 341 I went directly to 521 and 541. Chill. putnam winners are not made the way you presume.
