Hey!! Just got deferred from CHE. Hope this could be a chat for all deferred applicants to strategize and grieve.
deferred cas! hello :))
Deferred CALS!
deferred CALS as well
Hey! Are you guys planning on adding supplements or following up with the school?
Deferred CALS. FeelsBadMan.
I’m planning on following up but I have no idea what I should say. I might also get another academic recommendation to try to enhance my app but idk
deferred CALS… (i think they forgot to accept CALS students for ED lol)…
deferred from CHE
@lifeofpi22 I have already emailed the admissions office on the reason for my deferral(They actually tell you, lol), and asking what else I could do. I’ll probably end up sending in a LOCI, as well as mid-year grades and anything else signficant that comes up.
Defer CALS…super sad.
Deferred from CALS as well… animal science major man why are so many CALS applicants getting deferred?
@cpleune02 how did you find the email? Who did you email? Will emailing them be annoying? Because I want to figure out what to do from here
i was deferred cas :^(( i’ve never heard of asking for the reason? wouldn’t it just be that you were borderline in some area that cannot be changed? regardless, i’m definitely planning on sending in a LOCI & i’m pretty hopefull !!! cornell seems to admit some deferred applicants but i’ve never seen concrete stats so who knows
Deferred AAP kinda bummed and have no idea what to do now because my grades have dropped since the last report rip
I did some digging about deferrals that were accepted on threads on here and reddit and it seemed that most of them first sent an email about the reasoning behind the deferral, and then they sent in any other supplements they felt necessary, whether it be mid-year grades, LOCI, or something else significant.
@buckyspunisher I just emailed the admissions office. That seemed to be what most deferred acceptances did
DD deferred CALS. Can anyone confirm that a reason CALS defers (maybe true for other schools too) is that it uses guaranteed transfer options to fill in seats sophomore and junior years? So deferrals in ED who aren’t accepted in RD would be considered desirable candidates for TO? From Cornell transfer threads it seems like many have the TO to CALS but I can’t tell if that is just because of the small sample.
ah so what exactly should the email say? should i just directly ask for the reason behind my deferral?
just explain that Cornell is still your top choice and what else they woudl like to send in or improve on
Was deferred. What’s the next step?
