I'm a little confused as to why Cornell would do this. Can anyone explain?

Because Math + CR demonstrate level of thinking more than Writing does. 30% Writing score depends on the subjective opinion of essay graders

Yes but then why would it look at the writing from the ACT? 100% of that “depends on the subjective opinion of essay graders”

I have no idea. :)

Thank you for that “subjective opinion.”

I have stumped Silverturtle. My life is complete

LOL. I seriously laughed when I read this.

But in all seriousness, I hate writing sections on the ACT and SAT.

An admissions officer said Cornell doesn’t actually consider the Writing section of the ACT, they just require it because they’re part of some survey program or another and they need it to be equivalent to the SAT, which always has a writing section.

Could it be that ACT makes a ton of $ off the added writing section & in turn “does something” for schools who require it?
