Cornell does not offer interview for engineering?

That's what I found on the web, I was like, waaat? But I've heard something like an "alumni meeting," and what is that? Some say you just have to wait for them to call you, if not, that's a bad sign. Is that true? Thank you!

They only do admission interviews for the Hotel and Architecture schools, but yes, they do alumni interviews. I just got my call last weekend. They call you once you’ve submitted your application. It took me about a week to get the call after I submitted my app, but I’m applying ED so I may have had a priority or something…
Oh, and an alumni meeting is just a meeting with someone who graduated from Cornell in your local area who sits down and talks to you about the school, your interests, etc. I’m pretty sure it’s not a criteria for admission, but it is “highly recommended” so it can probably help.

My son was admitted and he did not have an alumni meeting.

interviews will only help your application. it is totally fine if you do not have one. it is only required for certain schools, such as hotel and architecture (but i think arch isnt doing in person interviews anymore? weird…)

I had one. I went in and spoke to an alumni. It was set up like an interview so it was kind of an awkward atmosphere. The only standard interview question I was asked was “why cornell” and for the rest of it, I was asking questions. My interviewer was helpful in answering questions I had about my major and college life.

I am not sure if these interviews help but, I’m sure if I said something outrageous, my chances of admission would have decreased.

oh ok thank you guys! Now I’m not worried anymore. But I’m still kinda waiting for them to contact me, I submitted my application last…friday I believe, and now it’s Thursday. So still waiting…

Give it some time. I think I read somewhere they take like 2 weeks, and I was surprised to get mine in 1.

hm, matalpots i think its b/c ur applying for ED, they gotta do urs as quick as possible
