Cornell Dorm Selection

I requested a single dorm- no, not because I'm a hermit& hate people, but because I would just like to have my own space to study and rest.

Now, I know you don't get to choose which particular building you are placed in. Frankly, I don't care where I'm placed, so long as I just have my own space. But if I requested a single, would i most likely get a single?

Is there anyone who can clarify this matter?
There are some who suggest that it is just completely random, and some who say that I will be at least get the room type I signed up for. Even dear old Uncle Ezra thinks so.

Any Cornellians who can share their experience?

Most people who request singles get them. There are many to go around…in fact, many students who ask for doubles are placed in singles.

If you’re a girl and request Balch, your chances of getting a single are even greater.
