Cornell Early Decision for Fall 2022 Admission

Cornell University offers Early Decision but does not offer Early Action for freshman admissions.

This year, the Early Decision (ED) deadline for Cornell is November 1. If you know it, feel free to edit this post and add the date!.

Last year, Cornell admitted 1,397 of the 6,158 applicants who applied early decision. The acceptance rate was 22.69%.

Applying to Cornell ED? Make sure you check out this post:

Has anyone submitted your Cornell ED application yet for 2022? If you are reporting test scores, does Cornell ask you in the Common Application if you want it to consider your scores? How did you self-report them?

To clarify…did you report them solely in the core Common App, or did you provide them elsewhere as well? In other applications, the schools ask in the school-specific part of the Common App. if the applicant wants the school to consider their scores, and we are not seeing that question in Cornell’s application. Is there something in the portal once you submit? This is for Cornell Arts & Sciences which is test-optional.

You probably already decided, but in case you’re still looking for answers, my son submitted his scores to Cornell through the core Common App. You can submit SATs, ACTs, and APs. Cornell says that if you submit any scores of a particular type, you have to submit them all, but they only consider the highest score for SATs and ACTs. They say they don’t consider the SAT or ACT essay.

Thank you! My student wound up calling admissions and confirming where to report their scores. So all good here on that. Now, waiting for the checklist to appear in the portal. They’ve had the general “congrats on applying; your checklist will be posted early Nov.” message for several weeks now. Does your son have a checklist yet?

We are seeing the same message. No checklist yet.

Could you kindly share a link to this? I think you can submit only your highest score. Thanks!

The application checklist is showing on the portal.

Yes, my student texted me this morning. Thanks! Question: my student submitted scores, but there is no line item for scores on the checklist. I’m assuming that is because the checklist is only for required items, and of course, test scores are not since the school she applied to is test optional, but I wanted to see if anyone else had test scores showing as submitted in the checklist. Thank you.

I’m seeing the same in my student’s checklist. We did send official scores but it’s not showing there.

Thanks. My student self-reported, so now we know both methods lead to the same result! Thanks again.

I chose my test scores to be considered with my application and self reported my score on the Common App. Apparently Cornell recieved my scores as the preview of my app sent to Cornell included the scores. Do I now need to officially send my scores to Cornell through the testing agency, in this case the College Board, or not?

Thanks in advance, and best of luck to all applicants.

I believe some of the colleges are test blind, so perhaps that is why the test scores aren’t listed?

My student applied to a school that is NOT test blind.

Cornell allows students to self-report test scores per its admission’s website. My student chose to do the same. However, you can always contact the admissions office to clarify the situation.

Did anyone receive an alumni interview?
