@qwerty5912 I called! The lady who answered was very nice but she said the only way an international student can contact fin aid is through email and I can’t do anything via phone calls. I’ve emailed the 3 times in the past 5 days but I’ve gotten no clarification whatsoever
Do you guys think they’ll understand that we made a mistake? It’s the first time we’ve filled out such docs, and we aren’t American either.
Holden I honestly couldn’t say I hope they understand and get back to your email, but the only one who would know is cornell financial aid or someone who had that problem in previous years. Regardless best of luck to you
Does Cornell give fin aid second year onwards? I mean, would it be possible for me to get financial aid next year. My parents could stretch themselves to finance one year of my education, so if I have a chance of getting something next year, I may be able to enroll. I did read somewhere that you have to apply for financial aid every year, any idea whether I stand a chance next year?
I would think so but once again I do not know for sure unfortunately
@holdencaufield007 I can’t speak to what happens with international students, but everyone has to reapply for financial aid every year. So that FAFSA, CSS and IDOC nightmare we all just went through has to be done annually. So if not much changes in terms of income, etc. from year to year, you can expect to get the same amount of aid each year. If your parents get a big raise, then it will be less, but if one loses a job, you would get more - most likely. I have heard that the financial aid office is genuinely helpful so if you made a mistake somewhere, they’ll eventually help you get it worked out. You have until January 14th to get it all figured out I think.
@cotopaxi thanks man, just reading that was pretty reassuring. I really hope I’m able to enroll without having to sell our house etc , and if I do, i’d love to buy you and @qwerty5912 a coffee or something
@holdencaufield007 yeah no problem we’ll probably have classes together, hopefully it all works out and we all have an awesome time for the next 4 years:)
@holdencaufield007 By the way, have you seen this link? There is an appeals process. http://finaid.cornell.edu/special-circumstances/appealing-your-aid-decision
Thank for that link I will submit an appeal and hope for the best!
