I was reading the Cornell ED webpage and it clearly stated that they "go easier" on ED applicants because they express direct interest. I was wondering exactly how much slack these applicants are given. Due to some rather unforseen consequences my total GPA has fallen from a 3.9 to a low 3.8 and my combined 10-12 GPA is only 3.78. Do they go easy enough that the following applicant would be able to get in reasonably?

Unw:3.84
Unw10/11:3.78
SAT:2200
SATII:730/730/750
Multiple business awards (FBLA 9th/6th in nation 1st/1st/4th in state 3rd/6th in section)
Varsity Sport
Competitive improv
600 hours of hospital volunteering

Your GPA does not put you out of contention by any means, and if your rank is high then that should help. Your test scores are pretty good, so I think you have a decent shot. It will come down to your essays, ec’s, and other subjective factors, since your test scores/grades are good, but not extremely good (by Cornell’s standards). Cornell has certainly accepted students with your GPA, lower, and obviously higher, so just focus on getting great recs and writing good essays. What college in Cornell are you applying to?
