Cornell ED Chance

Hi guys,

I’m going to be applying ED to Cornell this coming fall, and would really appreciate it if some of you guys could chance me.

Asian female from California, highly competitive public school
GPA(weighted): I got 3 b’s in freshman year which I hope won’t kill me, got straight A’s in sophomore year, and 4 b’s total in junior year with an ending GPA of 4.45. Unweighted, my GPA is probably around a 3.8.
SAT: 2240/2400
ACT: 31/36, planning on retaking in Sept. for a hopeful 34-36
AP Classes/Honors Classes Taken: APUSH, AP Lit, AP Calc AB, AP Psych, AP European History, Honors Anatomy, Honors Chinese
Senior Courseload: AP Stats, AP Lang, AP Chinese, AP Gov, AP Econ, AP Seminar
SAT 2: Math 2: 750, Literature: 780

EC’s:
Part of Officer Board of Model UN(Public Relations Director last year, Director of Delegate Training this year), heavily involved, lots of awards, 2 years
DECA: Lieutenant Captain of Team Decision Making Events, top 10 in Norcal for 3 years
Speech and Debate: Prep Speech/Duo Interp, 2 years
Summer Internship at Local CA State Senator’s Office
Summer Internship at local Congressman’s Office
About 200-300 hours of community service at the local Chinese School(4 years)
One year of school JV Women’s basketball
Managing Editor of an online literary magazine

I’ll be applying for the School of Industrial Labor Relations(ILR); I also have semi-legacy from my sister, who currently attends Cornell.

I think you have a good chance. You’re right when yiu say you need to raise your act score as Cornell, despite being the least competitive ivy, still has a 14% acceptance rate and is still highly competitive. I’m addition, you are asian and there are many Asians applying with the same stats, so try to make yourself interesting. I think you need to find something that helps you stand out rather than being a “semi- legacy.” Don’t rely on that at all. I’m conclusion, I think you have a good chance at getting in but I think you will have a better chance if you follow this. Good luck!!
