So again, thanks very much for helping this soul out!

One small (chancing) sentence for this guy, one giant change in his life.

chances aren't great, but I wouldn't put it out of the question. A kid from my school got a guarenteed transfer with a 95 average and like a 1960 SAT

you should try raising your GPA and SAT scores

Thanks for your generosity to chance me.

But I have to admit.. that your comments really surprised me.

Its jus cuz all four guys from my school who got into Cornell for the last three years had like 1900 ~ 2100 SATs and 87 ~ 92% GPAs.

Perhaps the GPA standards in the United States is much inflated than those in Canada?

honestly, don't take everyones' word for fact. or even speculation. i think you have a good chance....if you think of it, the people reviewing your application will see that you are a strong academic applicant and from there on it is what makes you stand out. a major EC maybe...or perhaps an amazing rec....your essay is also key.

make sure those are good- and solid. and i think you have a good chance :) good luck!

Thanks for an encouragement, Dande!
I appreciate it very much.

To respond to the GPA/SAT comment. I have a 97% GPA and ~2200 SAT, and when I was chanced for Cornell they said that I was an average applicant and that I would need to do something more to get in. I based my response off of that information and responses that other people got.

forget it...

Thanks for the comment, token89!
But that, I can't do. :)

Theodred,

"first generation in college in US"?

is that taken into account? i mean i thought a first generation student meant one's parents and grandparents..and so on never went to college..

so if my parents went to college in a country outside of US..am i a first generation student as well?

I think you have a decent shot, but you should focus on your essays a lot. And is there one EC that you are REALLY involved in? Because there are lots of kids who do everything, but few that excel in one. If possible, retake the SAT or try the ACT. You will want to get a higher score to have a better shot. Good luck!

Thanks for your hearty comments, hawkphoenix! :)
