Cornell ED chances? This will be tough......be honest

After looking through lots of great schools, I've applied early decision to Cornell . I would love to get into ILR or their Agricultural Sciences program. This is what I'm currently working with

SAT- 2320 in a single setting (750 Reading, 790 Math, 780 Writing), 2350 if super scored
SAT II- 760-Bio E, 770- Math 2, 750- U.S History
ACT- 35 Composite (36 English, 35 Math, 34 Reading, 36 Science)
AP- 5's- US History, Language and Composition, World History
4's- Biology, Calc AB
3's- Calc BC (not reporting)
PSAT- 221

GPA (3.4 Unweighted, 3.8 weighted) Low I know ;( but Upward trend

I have also taken several courses through Cornell University Summer College obtaining a College transcript GPA of 4.00

Their Debate professor there, Sam Nelson, really liked me, wrote one of my Letters of Recommendation, and said he would guarantee a spot on the debate team if I made it in.

I take a very competitive schedule, especially compared to my local peers, with my current year line up including AP Stat, AP Literature, AP Psych, AP Govt. and Politics, and AP Chem

Extra Curriculars

Supervising Coordinator for Volunteer Program at Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Methodist Hospital)
Team Captain for Varsity Debate Team (placed 6th in state at Public Forum)
Team Captain Varsity Quizbowl
Native American Aid Volunteering
State Track (Discus, No medal)
Computer Science Internship
National Honor Society
Nebraska Boys' State (2014 Speaker of House)
National Merit Finalist
Student Ambassador Republican Party of Nebraska
Indian Cultural Dance

I come from a relatively small town in Nebraska, and I'm just trying to make myself stand out. It may be worth mentioning I can pay for my college in full, no need for scholarships (although they are nice). I also may or may not be a legacy there seeing as I have a sister currently attending there as a junior.

Note- All the courses I took while at Cornell were in the ILR department

Super awesome test scores! Having a sibling at cornell should help you a bit. The only thing that’s concerning is your GPA. Your ECs are good, just make sure to try and manipulate the way you present them such that they align with your interests and your intended major at Cornell. Cornell is huge about fit. I’d say mid-reach, but definitely not impossible.

I would imagine my political and debate experience would be directly linked to ILR, and my Health volunteering, Native american work, and agricultural background (I’m from Nebraska lol) would help me get into Agriculture and Life sciences. Thank you for your help!

I think you have great chances.

Your stats are definitely above average for Cornell, and you show a lot of interest in the school. Ecs are pretty good, but not amazing.

One thing I am concerned about is the GPA…a 3.4 uw is super low. What’s your rank?

Not high to say the least, although my counselor mentioned my much greater course rigor than my peers in my letter of rec
