Chance me for Cornell ED! (arts and sciences and/or agriculture and life sciences)

White, male
ACT composite: 32
SAT chemistry: 730
SAT Math II: 730
Stats: GPA: 96%
Class rank: 15/360
APs: World History (5), English (5), US History (5), Chemistry (4)
Senior Year: Physics B, Economics, Environmental, Calculus BC
Everything else is enriched or accelerated; I have basically the hardest course load my school offers. Cornell is also familiar with my upstate NY high school, because many kids have gotten in from my school

ECs: Varsity XC, Varsity Nordic Skiing, Varsity Tennis, chess club

Science stuff: Science Olympiad (participated at state level), lab tech-ing for chemistry teacher

Awards: Cornell essay contest finalist, school scholar awards

I’ll make this short lol.

All Ivy schools are high reaches, I’m sure you know this. To make your application stand out, it would’ve been nice to see your ACT score 33+, AP Biology (if you school offers it), and more EC’s. Many students get rejected every year even though they have a 4.0 GPA, but these students lack EC’s. It’s good to see that you have science background and participated in the Science Olympiad, but If I were the admission officer for this school, I would wish for more experience or other EC’s relating to your profession. You said that you are interested in the life science/agriculture (so am I lol), but you haven’t taken the SAT Biology Subject Test. That test is really important and kind of the norm.

Overall, I don’t think you have a strong chance, but you might have a good chance. I wish you the best of luck, have a good Senior year, and work hard.

Thanks for the advice!
It seems like you focused on the agricuoture and life sciences, but for the college of arts and sciences, wouldn’t SAT chemistry work?

Sure, SAT Chemistry would work :). You’re fine, it’s just that most students usually take SAT Biology, but you’re in good hands.

Sorry to be such a bother! Basically what would help the most at this point in time is a higher ACT score? I’m also retaking my SAT subject tests, planning on getting 750+

You ARE a good candidate. Higher scores will improve your objective facts, of course.
