Cornell ED Class of 2021 Discussion Thread

@redgobig I don’t know if anyone answered your ID question, but I applied 10/5 and received my ID to track application status on 10/7. Why do you ask?

I submitted my common app on 10/5 and received confirmation and ID on 10/7. My Naviance showed similar to yours but the Cornell application status didn’t have some of the green check marks (for received). I read their FAQ and it can take up to 7 business days for them to update their system. As of today 10/13, I finally have all green check marks, so Cornell has received everything required. I think they just have periods of receiving a lot of material and it takes time to process.

@cotopaxi Thank you for your reply. Just curious, did you see “Downloaded” from both “School Report” and “Counselor Recommendation” on your Common App Cornell Counselor section? The problem we have now is Cornell Status shows everything green except for Counselor Recommendation. Also, the Common APP only shows School Report downloaded but no information regarding Counselor Recommendation. We were wondering if counselor did send out the counselor recommendation or not.

I’m submitting Saturday! My essays are done but i want to wait to look over them one last time. I’m so scared to hit submit because then everything will be out of my control and all I can do is hope that they like me!

How do you guys who already submitted deal with waiting? I’m so impatient!

@VALT2222 I didn’t have a “downloaded” prompt. It was either no check mark or a check mark as things came in. My counselor sent her school report and recommendation at the same time. Sounds like there might be a glitch in delivery. How long ago did you apply? I would still wait a week or so before calling them. I hear they get grumpy when people call during application time. After all, deadline isn’t until 11/1 anyway. Maybe it will straighten itself out.

@hleeigh Might as well relax. Like you said, once it’s submitted its out of your control. I keep myself busy by keeping up with school work so I don’t blow it with senioritis and also by starting the next round of applications. I am hoping for the best (getting accepted) but planning for the worst. I have to be realistic.

@cotopaxi Are you using Common App to submit your applications? If yes, you will see a status on Counselor section under Cornell “Recommenders and FERPA”. We only saw School Report downloaded but no information regarding Counselor Recommendation.

hey, i am an international student applying to CAS. Does anyone know how to add two councilors? i have attended two high schools.

@ess145 I’d try emailing the admissions office, or even starting an email chain with both of the counselors.

Did that. No reply tho.

Just submitted my application!!! Finally!

Awhile ago somebody posted a link with annual application/acceptance data for Cornell and broken down by college. I don’t see on this table the acceptances for ED. Specifically, wondering about acceptance rates for ED for engineering, ideally broken down by gender. Anybody know where to find those data?

i think that was the common data set for cornell try googling

@profdad2021 try this one http://irp.dpb.cornell.edu/tableau_visual/admissions

Thanks for this - I don’t see any information about ED on this. Am I missing it?

yeah i don’t see any ED on that one…let me look at the CALS fact sheet…but you probably got that one by email…

I don’t actually see ED stats broken out by college anyplace.

no I haven’t gotten any information on ED acceptance rates…by email or by any other way!

I think that engineering and CAS have the lowest overall acceptance rates by several points (IIRC, overall, CAS and Engineering hover around the 9-10% rate). Not sure about the ED versions, though.

I would assume the ED “bump” is roughly the same in each college…but since legacies and athletes are mostly ED, if these cohorts are biased to a certain college, this would impact the actual ED bump for that college.
