I just had my CAAAN meeting, has everyone early decision been doing them around now?
Kind of disappointed I still didnāt get a CAAAN interview. Submitted both Common App and Supplement on October 9th. Still no contact of any kind. I guess they wonāt penalize me for it at least. Maybe there arenāt many alumni around me, but hard to believe (suburb of Cincinnati) that is the case.
Why do you care? Is this CAAAN interview different from regular college interviews?
Iām applying ED to the CoE (College of Engineering)!
What excites me about this decision date being December 7 instead of the 15th is that I donāt need to send in my Rice RD application before I know if I got into Cornell XD (If you want an interview for Rice, you have to submit by December 11, even though the RD deadline is Jan 1.)
Please check out my thread! http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/2031858-chance-me-cornell-engineering-ed-will-chance-back.html#latest
DD got an interview.
@LetMeIntoCollegePleaz your legacy status is definitely a big plus. Iām new to CC so I donāt know how āchance meā works, but your credentials are amazing!
@Camchar88 thank you so much!
Killed the CAAAN thing. It was like a conversation and I was glad to see someone who was just as excited as me to be at Cornell
When did you guys get emails for the interviews? I live in NYC and we have alot of applicants and did not get an interview email but apparently it doesnt factor in admissions according to the CAAAN website
My mom is a volunteer interviewer for her alma mater and she said itās a random process. The regional chair assigns volunteers to applicants so itās not a big deal if one doesnāt get an interview. There are far more applicants than alumni interviewers. I live in NorCal and havenāt gotten any email invite yet.
Did Cornell ask for anyoneās first quarter grades? Iāve heard theyāve done that before and my first quarter ends today
@Jlmao200 I didnāt get any request from Cornell for my first quarter grades; I donāt think Cornell asks for them because they donāt mention that under their requirements. I believe they just ask for mid year and final year reports.
so, we submitted everything on IDOC and it still states uploaded but not processed. On the Cornell portal it is all received and initiated. Do they initiate if theyāre not interested? Also, do they send diversity letters ahead of time like they do in regular decision?
@lisaol what is a diversity letter?
@lisaol
Yes, all get initiated
@camchar88 Some URM who apply RD learn of their acceptance mid March and are invited to Diversity Day. I was wondering if they did this for ED.
http://admit.cornell.edu/diversity-hosting looks like it happens in April. So I imagine ED students could be invited to that, but probably at the same time of the RD students
Does anyone know if Cornell considers November SAT Subject scores? They come out this week (I think I got an 800 on both Math 2 and Korean) and I really want the admissions people to review my application with the SAT 2 scores. The website says itās not guaranteed so Iām super worried.
@SMoneygang I live in nyc too! I havenāt received an email or phone call or anything. Iām legacy so Iām wondering if maybe I wonāt be offered one since they are intended to be āinformational,ā and I basically have an endless source of information at home? What school are you applying to?
