Cornell ED Class of 2022 Discussion Thread

Anyone planning to apply to Engineering? I’m not sure whether I need to ED Cornell or U Penn Engineering…

CAS for me

@apham45 common app, simply because most schools use it. I dont get why theres a necessity for more than one

Hello,
I am applying to CALS. For more about me read a thread titled ’ my chances for Cornell’
love y’all

How far have y’all gotten on your applications? I’ve hit a block on my essays.

Last stat I saw, ED acceptance could be as high as 25% at Cornell. They want smart, interesting students who are committed to their school. No backing out once you apply ED.

Is that stat for all colleges? My D is considering applying to AAP (for Fine Arts).

there is an article from Businessinsider.com about early decision stat and reasoning. If you google “Is it easier to get into Ivy schools early”, you can check the article out.

On average, Ivies take 2-3 times more applicants who apply early decisions but the article pointed out that mainly because more qualified applicants apply early. Knowing that applicants are commited to that school also helps with their decision making.

If I’m interested in applying for Cornell ED (it’s my dream school) but the net price calculator gave me insufficient financial aid, is there any way to successfully appeal if your financial situation stays the same? Other Ivies and UChicago predicted $20,000 net price and Cornell said $30,000, which is disappointing.

hola all :slight_smile: Human Ecology ED applicant here :slight_smile:

Hello everybody ! College of Engineering applicant here !!

I’m probably EDing Dyson but I’m terrified. Was talking to a friend who runs tours in their admissions office and she said Dyson admissions have dropped to an all-time low (3%!!!) for the class of 2021 because now that they’ve put the “Johnson college of business” name on the Dyson major people are applying just for the “business” degree. I’m scared my application’s going to get passed over for someone who cares more about the name of their degree than the content :confused:

GPA: 3.76UW and 4.27W when I apply. 3.81UW and 4.40 without one semester(that being my first semester of high schools, I have a decent explanation but with that being said my grades do trend upwards.)
ACT: 33 10/12 on writing (I am trying so hard to get it up to a 35/34 I have one more shot!)
Good Leadership/ECs for my resume.
My teachers I have this year are two I have had all throughout high school, and they really like me so I think they will write a good letter.
Please let me know what you guys think! I am probably going to apply ED.

I am applying to Cornell CAS. Although I am considering ILR as well as it seems to be a really cool college. Let me know for both schools :slight_smile:

Cornell accepts about 22% of the people who apply RD from my school.

@BigDawgzTV
Good luck! No one from my school has ever been accepted in 4 years so im nervous lol

How’s the essay coming along, everyone?
I’m a little bit nervous about mine… both the Common App and CALS’s supplemental. I feel like I’m sucking up too much in the latter, and the former just isn’t well written.

@MaizeScream same here :confused: I feel like I’m not really showing who I am in the common app essay (which is pretty much the purpose of the essay) and the engineering supplemental isn’t coming easily to me either

Best of luck to everyone!

Human Ec here.

@xfewds which major?

I’m hum ec too. I’d like to do human development or hbhs
