Cornell ED Class of 2022 Discussion Thread

@DiddlyDiddly2022 What are your stats/ecs?

Guys, I have a general question. If a college does not require the ACT essay, should you still send it?

Does anybody know a student who got the Cornell alum interview and got rejected in ED?

Question! If we took the additional SAT subject test in November but applied ED, can we still send it to the college?

@flagship2000 plenty of people. The alumni interview is informational. Plus, 60% of people get an interview, they won’t accept 60% lol

@flagship2000 according to last years post there were plenty of those

@Scorpion2000 plenty of what? Kids who got the alumni interview and got rejected?

@garliccroutons I applied to CALS Biological Sciences but I have no experience in Agriculture. I had a summer research internship though so I’m really hoping that makes up for it.

@xfewds as was pointed out 50-60 percent of applicants get interviews
 and acceptance is less than 30% for ED so clearly mainly people get interviews and rejected

@garliccroutons you’re hilarious! It’s ok I have 0 agricultural clout too so we’re in the same boat.

From what I’ve heard, both from my alumnus and other premeds who have graduated CALS, agricultural experience/background only really matters if you are intending to pursue a career in that field. The “Life Sciences” sector of the college has the majority of premeds on campus, largely because CALS degrees require a lot of the same courses that are also medical school prereqs. I have absolutely no affiliation with agriculture, but my essay discussed the reasons and experiences that have influenced me to major in the Biological Sciences, as well as what specialty I plan to pursue as a doctor (if I get into med school, but that’s a different issue lol). I don’t really believe that CALS would deny all premeds simply because they don’t have agriculture experience, since that wouldn’t be relevant to their career path anyway. At least, I hope they won’t because I can diagnose a possible myocardial infarction in the field and restart a person’s heart, but I don’t know a carrot from a parsnip.

Also applied to CALS, albeit to the GPHS major (which is also offered through Human Ecology) with absolutely zero agricultural experience. The description of the major on CALS website has absolutely nothing to do with agriculture.

@Chelydraroach I applied to CALS Animal science OOS. Cornell is a reach for me and im so nervous :frowning:

Pretty sure everyone is geeking at this point

Hey everyone! I’m a CALS applicant from New York, anyone else applying for the biometry and statistics major?

@colormagix Same!! Do you have a lot of farmland experiences? My application doesn’t show my experiences with farm animals but rather exotics

@flagship yes, many students.
