Cornell ED Class of 2023 Discussion Thread

The CAAAN narratives are the reports that CAAAN alumni have to write about the interviews they do with applicants, there is nothing you have to do.

My D application is also stating that initiated under Financial aid. As far as I remember, we have submitted all the required documents. Is there anything we need to do or is it for Cornell to take action? Please advise

My D application for Financial aid also changed to initiated. I believe this is normal for this week as they start the process it takes them about a week to move the docs over from css and IDOC, if you look at last years forum this was the process. So all looks good right now.

Everything says initiated for me. does that mean I have to submit anything else or im fine?

was anyone else selected for federal verification?

@yllatagu What does that even mean? When I completed the CSS at the time it had asked me to upload my tax return, my husband’s tax return (we file separately). our W-2’'s all of our 1099s (which was a complete royal pain in the neck) and then since I"m divorced, my ex-husband and his wife also had to upload all of that as well. In his case, he didn’t get any notification about it, but it was showing up on my end that he needed it, so he called CSS and Cornell’s financial aid office because it’s all due by tomorrow and no way was it going to get there since CSS says it takes 3-5 days, but Cornell said it’s not a problem. Is that the verification stuff? Or is it even more invasive?

If it’s more invasive, then it could be like an “audit” when numbers don’t match up on your Fafsa and your CSS or don’t make sense so they want more information, or documentation. I better log in to check my daughter’s because the whole thing was annoying. One school (not Cornell) even asks what kind of cars I drive, but I do recall some questions from Cornell’s form didn’t give me another space to type so my CSS may not be complete in their eyes. Ugh!

Ok, we have 4 items all show initiated. Is that pretty much the same on everyone elses?

There were four items under financial aid in the evening but now the css profile is not there. Anyone in similar situation

bro same i wonder where the css profile went

I have 3 items. What are your 4 items?

Ours still has 4, however, upon further research, it appears you want the list to start disappearing. See this from the Financial Aid website. https://finaid.cornell.edu/apply-aid/prospective-applicants/citizens-and-permanent-residents

“Monitor Your To Do List
We communicate our aid application requirements through the Cornell To Do List. Note that this list may be different than the list of requirements on your IDOC Dashboard. Please reference your Cornell To Do List regularly to see that everything is complete. Items will disappear once they are completed in your financial aid file.”

My FA to do list still says “No current to do item information found”. Is this bad? I’m getting worried as the deadline is tomorrow. Also, has anyone else had to fill out a Noncustodial Parent Waiver?

anyone else seeing “submitted” on parent ed agreement on common app? everything else for me says “downloaded”. any idea what this is?

It means that uni downloaded the things, while they don’t need to download you ED agreement

@18butterflies It means that the school downloaded all your documents that you submitted and that your parent signed and submitted the ED agreement stating that they understand it is a binding agreement if you are accepted.

S has his interview and it was standard questions; why Cornell, what do you want to study, is there something that is not on your application that they should know? Lasted an hour or so. Pleasant meeting according to S.

I still haven’t received an interview. I’m in RI. I don’t think my application would just be thrown out though. Does that suggest that I’ve just been deferred into the RD pile? I friend of mine received an interview, but he’s a legacy applying Eng, while I to CAS

I don’t know what to make of not being contacted for an interview. Our D applied ED to Engineering but has not been contacted either, and we live only 10 miles from campus. She’s first or second in her class and at Cornell in the New Visions program, so I find it hard to believe she didn’t even make it past the initial screening. Someone earlier in this thread stated that they knew of “lots” of students who were accepted but never had an interview.

Yeah, I doubt that decisions will be released earlier than the 10th. Everyone is reporting an extremely high number of applicants.

lowkey don’t wanna go to cornell anymore XD
