Cornell ED Class of 2023 Discussion Thread

I tried the admitted students portal and it let me in but everything was for the spring 2019 applicants and doesn’t/wouldn’t apply to any of us so I’m guessing it means nothing. I really don’t think there’s a way around waiting until Monday at 7 for decisions, as much as I wish there was. And potential CS majors, use your skills and let us know, the wait is killing me!!

@whatsmypassword ohh i just went on to it and mine also says submit deposit and memorize id too… but the due date says May 1, 2018 so i dont think it means anything

Yeah I am a NY resident but I don’t feel all that comfortable posting stats on here. I don’t think that I need judgement cause let’s be real here none of us are admissions officers so we can’t really make full judgement calls on other people. Nothing against you or anything I just don’t share my stats anywhere.

My son was admitted to ILR in 2014 with a 30 ACT. If I posted his stats, trust me, people would be judging and saying he probably wouldn’t get in. He applied ED. And now he’s with a top finance firm. It is holisitc and everyone has to remember that. Good luck everyone!!! (He was not a NY resident)

^ @coniston1 my post is a reply to you

@garfield0804 Yeah maybe! Or maybe we’re accepted lol ?

Wait do they actually send out paper letters?

“Wait do they actually send out paper letters?“

They did 30+ years ago. My silly family steamed the letter open and acted all goofy when they gave it to me. Sorry I couldn’t resist??. Glad to see you folks are so excited. And if you’re COE or AAP you have my condolences. You’re going to get your butt kicked but it will be well worth it. It’s a great school. And oh…Good luck and bring your snow gear.

Yeah they do send out acceptance letters

What’s the average SAT score of the art students in Cornell?

When will they come then? Around the time they release decision online?

probably a day or two for US citizens and a week for international maybe

(lol tried responding to a post 33 pages in + can’t delete on CC)

I am an international who didn’t receive an email asking for financial aid documents or tax forms, does that mean I didn’t get in? (I had submitted a complete CSS profile in late October)

Woa! I have just went through the thread and realized how creative we are when we push our limit to ‘hack’ the decision. Btw good luck everyone for the results and the final tests next week.

Was there anybody who couldn’t log in to the to-do list?

This is a stressful time and I wish all of you the best for Monday Dec 10. If you are accepted, congratulations and best wishes for your undergraduate journey at Cornell. Equally, if you are denied or deferred, do not despair, and remember that there will be something equally good or better for you in store!

@krflame4 Are you talking about the financial aid to do list? It is supposed to be blank if you have no outstanding items remaining.

If you got that oracle thing, then just click the log in again and it works. If something else, then no idea what you’re talking about.

As for mailing letters, most schools mail them the same day the decisions are emailed so people get them a few days later. If they send them priority mail, then depending where you live it will take a few days to get the hard copy. If you’re in California it can take 3-4 days if not more. Not sure why they would send it priority unless it’s over 1lb.which automatically qualifies it for priority. I’ve never seen a college acceptance come via priority. I think the thread last year said the Internationals received something via Fedex.

In any case, once every sees the online status tomorrow, I don’t think many will care how they get the hard copy notification. Good luck.

MODERATOR’S NOTE:

I’m assuming that all applicants to a selective college like Cornell know how to tell time and read a calendar, which makes a countdown clock superfluous.

I just confirmed with my friend who has 2 current students at Cornell, both accepted during the ED process in different years that they send a letter in the regular mail and she recalls receiving it much later than the email/online notification.

This was at least what happened last year.
