Sexual assault/rape case among other things.
Are you talking about the student who had guns in his apartment?
There was something where a Cornell student was stockpiling guns and ammunition and seemed mentally unstable
isn’t that typical in most colleges though?
Apparently Cornell has been topping the list for reported sexual assault cases along with other less than ideal news headliners. I doubt it affects the academic integrity of the school, but possibly alarming to some others.
wow, interesting. That would definitely make an impression on prospective applicants
lol sorry but my Financial Aid to do list is blank but I’ve only submitted my Fafsa and CSS profile. Will it get updated only after I submit my IDOC?
Also I got contacted for a phone interview thing so any information on how informal it is/ any advice?
When I click on the “check application status” in my applicantID, its blank. Is that normal?
Does anyone know if Cornell is one of those schools that defers a lot of ED applicants or is it mostly just accept/deny?
In the past, the deferral rate was slightly less than the acceptance rate, so ~ half are denied outright.
mine is blank as well @yllatagu
The rate I saw as about 26% accepted ED, 24 % deferred and 50 % denied, but of course it really depends on the particular college within Cornell
It usually at least tells you they have your application and they will contact you soon about the checklist. It shouldn’t be blank
The financial aid page will be blank for now, we submitted the FASFA, the CSS and all the IDOC info and its still blank right now
Yes and they also had a student drop acid recently and try to rape two girls at a bus stop, that happened right after that report came out. However, I should note that the article that reported that did indicate that the increase could also be because Cornell is reporting more incidents that might not have been reported in the past #metoo environment
You got contacted for the phone “interview”? What region of the country are you in?
Who gets contacted for interview? I thought they dont offer interviews for certain schools
just got email from Cornell said that your application is received
@yllatagu It is not a formal interview. Apparently each year CAAAN has their members meet informally with some applicants in their region. CAAAN is the Cornell Alumni group. Some applicants will be contacted for an informal meeting to put a human face on the admissions process. Not everyone gets a meeting and not getting one doesn’t mean anything since they don’t have enough people to cover all applicants. That being said if you do get one it is best to put your best foot forward as they do report back to admissions on how the meeting went.
@bigredhope is right. CAAAN tries to reach as many students as possible but depending on where you live, there may not be enough alumni in your area. In my old home state, we had nowhere near enough volunteers so started offering group meetings that would have mini one on one breakouts. It absolutely will not impact your application if you don’t have a meeting.
