Yep, I have to go to Cornell as ED is binding, I never thought it would happen in ED as many friends got deferred. The only thing done outside of application was a Zoom interview with an alumni in my area in late November.
Snail mail still hasn’t showed up, mailed has been delayed in our area since Thanksgiving. Found the admission in portal.
I was AA to UT Austin back in October, admitted to major in November. Paid deposit for housing and even found a roommate. Waiting for honors decision. Also waiting for honor decision at A&M. UTD became an afterthought receiving a low AES offer.
Lots of Texans at Cornell. Climate and getting there is a challenge, but you’ll love it.
Just make sure you withdraw all those applications. The bummer is never knowing if you ever get into those Honors programs, but you can’t worry about that now. You’re a member of the Big Red Family! Congrats!
Thank you- I think she will thrive at Cornell. Ithaca is only two hours from our home, so it is really convenient for her to go there. Also, the state discount makes it affordable especially since tuition benefits from my work (a SLAC) will cover most of her tuition. We are still in awe that she got in. We thought it would be like winning a lottery if she got accepted.
i got accepted for ed, i had a 34 but could not submit bc school was test blind. i live in NY. I had no college counselor, I took a pretty cheap course for ACT to learn the tricks that was once a week for 2 months i think. after that I just spent hours and hours taking practice tests- 3 weeks leading up to the test I did one test on friday, one on sat and one on sun each week. It was soooo annoying at the time but paid off since i got the 34 my first time!
Cornell is all about FIT - they want you to pick a lane and stay in it - IDK what your intended major is but emphasize how you are qualified for that track, and how you plan to use what you learn at Cornell to pursue your ultimate career goals. With the school being TO, differentiating yourself from other applicants will be key.
