Cornell ED Deferred Class of 2023

I just got my deferral from Cornell University. If anyone got deferred, please feel free to discuss it here!

First of all, I applied to ILR School with GPA 3.76 and SAT 1510. I do not think my extracurricular needs any additional things so I am going to focus on my senior first semester GPA and turn it in. Does anyone know how to turn supplemental things online? Can I get a link if anyone has it?

deferred but not surprised lol

I also applied to ILR. You submit new things through the same portal, but it’s not up right now.

Deferred for Dyson which basically means rejected. Not that upset bc I expected to get rejected but upset bc now I have to do my regular applications haha

Got deferred from CALS, but its alright guys

Deferred from CAS, which was my worst fear. I know it sounds a little arrogant but I mean at least people who were accepted/rejected have a sense of finality with their decisions. I dont wanna get my hopes up again for April, I’m just scared and disappointed.

i got deferred from human ecology. idk what to do to increase my rd chances

S, who is a double legacy was deferred from Arts. Admissions likely wants to see 1st semester grads to affirm recent positive trends and to see what kind of candidates come via RD pool for class mix. Only option is to work hard until end of year.

What else to do - send in first semester grades and consider writing a letter of continued interest. If you’ve won an additional awards or published or have another memorable activity to add to your application, have your GC submit something as well.

Anybody else deferred from CALS for Animal Science?

S3 was deferred ED and reached out to admissions to discuss deferral. He sent in senior year grades, additional letter of recommendation, a letter of continued interest and asked his guidance counselor to reach out as well. He will be graduating in May from Cornell.

How do you send additional letter of recommendation/continued interest? Via email to AO or just mail it?

deferred from Human Ecology… any tips on what to do to increase my RD chances?? also, what is a letter of continued interest lol

What class loads are people taking this year? I opted for a harder schedule so I’ve been getting worse grades, I hope that doesn’t bite me in this ass for my sem 1 grades.

So it sounds like the best bet is to just go ham trying to talk to them?

@3rdsontocollege Thanks for your reply. I was wondering how I can send extra recommendation letters from my teachers. Should I send it via ground mail or email? Or is there a place online for me to submit everything? Do you also know if I should self report my semester 1 grades or submit another transcript after end of the 1st semester?

does anyone know when we should hear back? do we hear back on the same day as everyone else who applied RD?

I got defered from CALS, not really that surprised because my scores were on the low side
1410 SAT, 3.5 GPA, well rounded but no awards, and a risky essay
(also I’m an asain female from a big public school in houston)

I don’t think I’ll eventually be accepted because of my low midterm grade for AP Bio, but
I think I’ll send another recommendation letter. Does anyone know where to submit it??

@ejn415627 We hear back on the same day as RD students. I’m pretty sure our application is just now put into the RD pool, and they forget we ever applied ED
