Reach out to the school you were deferred from, speak with admission, start a dialog and ask them the best way to send additional items to Support for your application. Good luck

Also, do many people get deferred from Cornell?
Do they have a high acceptance rate for deferred students?

for the letter of continued interest, should i email that to admissions or send it in the mail?

@5wifty Iā€™m in same boat, plus my health is a mess

Hereā€™s an update on the ED stats from Cornell. Note their 2023 Class is going to be smaller than 2022. https://cornellsun.com/2018/12/14/cornell-accepts-22-6-percent-of-early-decision-applicants-for-the-class-of-2023/

My son was deferred last year from SHA. He wrote an email to AO expressing continued interest and asking what ele he could do to get in. They told him they did not want another teacher rec - additional recs should only be from some other source (this could be different for other schools - I donā€™t know) and to send a letter of continued interest and ā€œmeaningfulā€ updates. He sent in a rec from his internship. Also kept up an email dialog all along. He was waitlisted in March and finally accepted in May. I will say that he was respectfully persistent and sent them little updates pretty regularly. Good luck to all!

where should i send my email with my letter of continued interest? also where should i send my physical letter?

my son did not send a physical letter. Only emails with his AO

I got deferred too. Iā€™m so sad :frowning:

I have a new rec letter I want to send it. Where do I tell my teacher to send it to/through?

Hello all.

I applied to the Animal Science major within CALS and got deferred.
Stats:
Weighted GPA: 4.76
Unweighted GPA: 3.98
Extracurriculars: Volunteering at a veterinary hospital for 2.5 years as a member of the emergency team, endurance horseback rider, varsity high school/club soccer player, NHS, Spanish Honor Society, working at a retirement facility, volunteering at local horse rescue, etc.
IB Diploma Candidate
Double Legacy
Biracial
SAT: 1550

I know that it is disappointing for everyone here who have been deferred, but I have talked with many of my friends who are in college currently, and they all say that they ended up at the perfect school for them eventually. Just do the best you can (send an additional letter of rec, a letter of continued interest, mid-year transcripts, etc.), and be proud for getting this far, no matter what happens. Good luck to everybody!
If anybody has any suggestions or additional advice, I am all ears.

Hello!

I got deferred for CALS food science
I am an international student from Colombia and I applied for financial aid.

My stats are:
Best IB diploma anticipated grades in my class
SAT: 1410 ERW: 680 Math: 730
GPA W: 6.92 in a scale of 7 (I donā€™t know how it is in a scale of 4)
Extracurriculars: Strong (president of a volunteer club, international competitive dancer, a lot of volunteer hours related to my major, blog related to my major, wrote a book)
Class rank: 5/77 when I applied ED, but I am now valedictorian

I sent a letter of continued interest to the office of admissions and through my student portal where I stated my new valedictorian place, my IB anticipated grades and why I am so attracted to Cornell.

What to you think about my chances of getting in through the regular pool of applicants?

@NYCSenior What was ur sonā€™s stats? I got rejected sadly.

@daenerys16 I was also deferred from CALS Animal Science.

anyone know who to send deferral letter to? I canā€™t find an email

I was told to mail mine in

Hi everyone! I was deferred from ILR. I sent in an additional letter of recommendation from one of my senior year teachers. I had him send it in the mail. Also, I told him this was going to Cornell and he wrote it accordingly. I also had my counselor call admissions, but that was not that significant at all. They just told me to keep focusing on school and maybe send in a letter of counited interest which I did.

Iā€™ve done all I can, and Iā€™m sure you guys have also. Just keep doing your best and be proud of how far youā€™ve come! Weā€™ll all end up at a great place!

did u guys submit ur LOCI through email or on the app status page
