Someone posted this on the "HS Class of 2008- Cornell EDers" thread today:
"I just called Cornell and found out that the new official date for the results is 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday December 19th, 2007. This date may be subject to change in the coming weeks, but as of right now that is the official day for our results."

Hmm...I wonder what caused this, a considerable increase in applications (which doesn't seem likely since Brown and Dartmouth only saw a 6-7% increase), or a labor shortage in the application processing center? It could also be a combination of the two, or it may be due to something else entirely.

This does not make much sense.... in four days are they really going to accomplish a lot more? Or are they just woefully understaffed/inefficient.....lets hope it changes back to the 15th(or sooner!).

Is this the first time that this has happened? Because from what I've seen, they've been relatively proficient at meeting the deadlines for decisions during the last few years and despite the server crashing last year on the RD decision date, they still managed to get the site back up in a few hours.

Yeah, that was me who posted it and I called around 3:00 and that's what I heard so I guess we still have 23 days until our life is decided or not.

Cornell is putting a new computer system in place which, apparently, sucks. (They use it cause it was created by a Cornell alumni who has since sold it). So it's taking them way longer to do everything cause the new program requires re-entering things or something like that. But they're doing their best - they've been paying people to work overtime and weekends.

maybe it's taking them more time due to primary/alternate school option that they started this year. That means they will need more time, sending application possibly to admission comms of 2 schools.
