@thegrant :hopefully we will both get in:)

@Autumn97 yeah lol that would be awesome. I was searching old threads about Cornell AAP from a couple of years ago and there was a thread of people complaining about how their 2200-2350 SAT scores didnt get them in. I have no idea how that would happen unless they presented stick figures in their portfolio lol

@autumn97 also, I think people had higher success in the interview by bringing in originals, cause it kinda gives them a sense of scale of bigger work, its more impressive, and i guess it shows dedication(hauling/driving heavy paintings/drawings to cornell!)

Does Cornell even have interviews? None of the applicants from my school went to an interview.

@HPClee I think the only interview that is mandatory is from Architecture majors at AAP, and then its optional for Fine arts students at AAP as well. I dont think other schools other than AAP have interviews(unless they request you for one i think?). Im only familiar with the AAP school so im not 100% positive lol

Ahh so a lot of weight must be placed on the essay

@HPClee Good thing! I cant compete with other peoples grades/scores lol

Hahaha I’m so nervous about the essay though. I don’t really know what each school wants. I heard you should write about your achievements or your essay should be related to your major but I really don’t have that.

Oh and btw does Cornell have an essay supplement? I can’t find any on the commonapp website.

@HPClee I looked at the essay prompts for each of Cornells schools and it seems they really want applicants to express their passion for their intended major. I dont think that Cornell has supplement essays though im really not sure- though I heard of some people that submitted everything and then submitted (not sure how) other information that expressed their special circumstances and such(homeless,sick,divorce,death,depression etc…) Though I think that most schools would be able to get a roundabout idea of each applicant just through the required essay and the Common App profile essay.

@thegrant where did you find the essay prompts for the Cornell schools? I can’t seem to find it on the common app.

@HPClee http://admissions.cornell.edu/sites/default/files/2014%20Freshman%20Writing%20Supplement%20Questions.pdf

@HPClee Again, i feel for all of them you might want to tell an origin story of where you found your passion/interests and then relate it back to Cornell

Ah I see thank you. Ugh I had a little sliver of hope that I wouldn’t have to write another essay.

@HPClee I just looked at your test scores and EC’s and they are incredible. just saying lol

@thegrant Thank you! Although my standardized tests only put me on the average for cornell. But my friends got accepted with good recommendations and below avg test scores so there’s still hope!

@HPClee Haha school are you applying to? AAP??

@thegrant Engineering most likely wbu?

@HPClee AAP! Good luck im sure you’ll get in

Is it? Haha thank you! Good luck to you as well!
