Cornell ED

Hi! I’m an international student and I really wanted to apply to Cornell Engineering for ED because this is where I want to go even though I know that my grades aren’t stellar. I want to study Computer Engineering. I wanted to know if applying ED to Cornell is a good decision or not.
My stats:
Unweighted GPA: 4.25
1520 SAT (by superscoring)
Subject tests: 800 in Math, 760 in Chem, and 740 in Physics
IELTS: 8.0
I never took any AP/IB/Honors classes since they aren’t offered in any school in my country. Also, my school doesn’t offer any sport either.
ECAs: I’ve been teaching in a school for autistic children since January 2019. I have a paid job as an assistant to my physics teacher and used to be one to my math teacher. Other than that I don’t have anything significant. I participated in a few olympiads but went upto nationals only. I also volunteered in a few community service organizations. Also, I was really involved in art up until 10th grade and have a few awards. I am part of Math Club in my school and am kind of in an upper position but the club isn’t that active.
I’m really passionate about Math and Computer Programming.
LOR and essays: Pretty good. I think I’m kinda good at writing.
P.S. I took a gap year and I really need financial aid.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey I’m an international student too, and I was thinking between Cornell and Upenn for ED, but went for Upenn ED and Cornell RD. I think specifying your country will make chancing easier. For example, if you are from China or India it would be tough for you, but it will be easier if you’re latin or African. It sucks I know, but if you are from a country where they are overloaded with Applicants it will be tougher. But I would you have ok chances

Here are my stats if you want to compare them. I am a current student at Cornell University as part of the class of 2023. I am a Human Biology pre-med major at CHE for reference.

ACT: 35
SAT: 1560 (not superscored.)
SAT II: Math 2 (800), Chemistry (800), Physics (790), Biology M (800)
GPA: 3.98 (unweighted, school did not weigh)

Here are SOME of my EC’s (not all):

  • National chemistry olympiad finalist
  • National USABO finalist
  • National youth orchestra of USA principal second violinist
  • Decoturf national tennis tournament semifinalist

I think you have a pretty solid chance overall. Good luck!

Your chances are good
I applied with a 1360 oof, but hey it’s my dream school
