Cornell Eng vs Stanford Eng

Neither? Why pay Stanford/Cornell tuition when there are comparable public engineering schools for much cheaper?

Because depending on financial aid Stanford/Cornell could be cheaper than a public institution.

IMO the two schools are very close academically … and if the costs are relatively similar … than I’d go with the better fit.

3ToGo … an alumni of both Cornell and Stanford’s engineering schools

PS #1 - the suicide rate at Cornell is actually lower than the national average

PS #2 - When I was there Cornell was tougher than Stanford … the students were very similar but Cornell required more work … BUT, it was not a killer amount of work or weeder-driven; it was challenging but very doable for anyone who stayed on top of things.

Stanford, what a silly question, the ivy league sucks for engineering

facepalm Except Cornell is good for engineering.

There are 9 other schools better than Cornell, and none are ivies… Stanford blows Cornell out of the water for engineering. Most good engineering firms don’t even go to Cornell to recruit…

^
Not really.

Highlight: (by committee member, Next Jump CEO)

“The narrative floated that Stanford’s sudden withdrawal and Cornell’s last-minute alumni gift of $350 million turned the process on its head simply doesn’t seem to be true. According to Kim, while all the proposals were strong, both he and a plurality of the committee recommended Cornell’s application as the top proposal from the beginning of the process.”

To be fair, Cornell has much more reason to commit(and NY has more reason to believe this will be the case) than Stanford. As good as a Stanford idea may be, that article clearly points out a conflict of interest that Cornell simply does not have.

All I know about Cornell is that they always win those formula race car engineering department contests. I’m west coast and totally Ivy-illiterate.

Stanford has great professors and very hands-on learning methods, at least from what I saw of their CS courses. I didn’t get that “fakeness/richness” vibe… but then again I myself…

Cornell decided to buy a plot of land, but Stanford decided not to. Therefore, I conclude Stanford is worse for engineering. Professor, can I now get an A+ in the logic class?
