I am an international student applying for engineering, what are my chances for :-
Cornell ED
Georgia Tech EA

Gender= Female (is this an advantage when applying to engineering schools???)
SAT 1= 2050 ( Math-790, CR-590, W-680)
TOEFL=110 out of 120 (does this make up for low CR on SAT???)
SAT 2= Math=800, Physics=800, Chem=780
GPA= 3.7
School rank= top 5%

Curriculum = my school does not offer ny AP or IB courses. But, i took toughest possible classes.

Extracurricular activities=
Intern at electricity generation company
Volunteer work(200 hours+)
Published a few articles in the local newspaper
and had leardership positions on some school clubs.

Essays= describing a unique reason i got interested in engineering

So, what do you think are my chances at Cornell ED, Georgia Tech.
What safety schools should i apply to ?
Should i even consider applying to MIT, Harvard , Princeton or Stanford?

Anyways i would be very happy with Cornell , will i get it???

Your CR score will most likely be overlooked since english isn’t your first language and you did very well on your TOEFL. Your math and science scores are excellent and your class rank is great and you get a bump for being a female. Therefore, your chances are good but the international pool is more competitive. Personally, I think you will get in but i wouldnt be surprised if you get rejected. I also got into the College of engineering at cornell (male, us citizen) and it really is a great school.

Will you be applying for Financial aid?

Your chances at MIT are virtually zero- not only does MIT reject virtually all international applicants, but you simply dont stand out. Chances are a bit higher at Harvard, Princeton, and Stanford, but not nearly as good as Cornell.

Thanks cortana431 , I am sooo happy to know that i have a chance at Cornell.

Yes, i will be applying for financial aid, but, i have heard that Cornell is need-blind for internationals, so that should not affect my chances right? And, do i have a chance of getting aid?

How much aid do you need? Very few international students, I believe around 40 or a bit less, actually receive financial aid, so there is a merit based aspect to receiving financial aid AND because you are applying early decision, the financial aid office may be less inclined to give aid.

@cortana431 , so, according to you, i dont have a chance of receiving aid?
I need around 50% on tuition fees.
And could you tell me about my chances at GeorgiaTech

I have more ecs, but, i just listed the most important ones.

Other ecs:-
Captain and Founder of Nature club
Member of school basketball team
Started a campaign for saving power
Vice-captain of Interact club
etc…

The rate of acceptance of Harvard, MIT is too low for internationals and with that CR score its going to hurt you, cause a lot of internationals have higher CR scores. But its like a lottery and your chances of winning are quite ok so play. I’m an international too who wants to ED Cornell but I heard the financial aid is very limited and that has worried me as well. I need financial aid like 40%. But we have to think about getting admitted first don’t we?

I want to know my chances of getting ACCEPTED into Cornell ED
(financial aid comes later, i know i have very very…very little chance at other MIT,Harvard etc…)

I want to know about my chances at Cornell ED!!!
