What do you guys think of the Cornell environmental science and sustainability major? It is new, but I want to be a wildlife biologist, would it be better, if I did get into Cornell, to do the ess or ecology and evolutionary biology major?

One thing I would suggest, as a current student of Cornell, is to look at the classes you would be taking for either major. I am currently in the College of Engineering, most likely intending Environmental Engineering as a major, but I’m beginning to look into the ESS major. One of the major factors that may lead me to make the switch is that the classes in the Environmental Science major seem to match my interests more closely than the classes for Environmental Engineering.

So I would look at the classes for both majors and decide which route sounds more interesting to you, as well as which route will help you reach your career goals.

But that’s just my two cents.

Ecology would be much more pertinent for a wildlife biologist than environmental science or sustainability.
