Cornell Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

I know it’s early, but who else is applying to ILR or CAS? I’m pretty excited to apply. I’m also applying to Emory and Vanderbilt.

What are my chances? Please let me know, and I’ll do the same for you.

Stats:
GPA: 3.68 (really good public school)
Major: ECON & PSCI Double Major
Extracurriculars: Mock trial, internship, stu gov. model arab league, office of financial aid peer counselor.

HS:

ACT 30 (retaken 5 times lol, is that bad?) range 21-30

I’m also 1st gen American, 1st gen college, and black. If that information counts for anything.

Hi! I’m hoping to transfer in 2018 too!
Is this the official thread?

PS: Sorry, I have no clue about chances (I should be the one asking too)

Planning to major: Psychology

I don’t know if there is such thing as an “official thread,” I think it’s self-proclaimed. I might be wrong. I just want to get together with the rest of the transfer hopefuls and talk.

btw I think this thread is dead.

good luck !

For Human Ecology applicants, are you guys able to call them? Or are they not picking up your calls?

I am applying to ILR. I am applying technically for junior status, but my community college made me take a lot of useless classes to graduate, so I would be more of a mid-year sophomore if I somehow get accepted.

Current School: random community college in the Midwest (definitely not a “feeder” school of any sort)
Non-trad applicant
4.0 College GPA
Phi Theta Kappa
Honors program + honors thesis
Two national awards
Good letter of recommendation
8+ years of work experience
Volunteer experience: I repair cars for people in my community free of charge (I’ve fixed up 70+ cars)
Very low high school GPA (barely graduated due to drug problem, had to finish via night school)
White male, first generation college student, household was bottom 1% of income (not an exaggeration; my mother was also an unemployed drug addict).

Applying to Johnson for Applied Economics. Best of luck everyone!

@grahamcracker123 We have very similar stats, even high school.

Im applying to ILR with 60+ hours from a Texas Community College.
4.0 GPA
EC’s:
Phi Theta Kappa Chapter Officer, Orientation leader, student leadership institute, Mentor with a non-profit organization that helps at-risk high school students prep for college, member of various clubs on campus and I work on campus as a department assistant.
Multiple awards, some national and a couple state and district level.

High School: Very low GPA and drop out. Had to drop out to work…both parents had issues with drugs as well.

Good Luck everyone!!

I’m putting in a Transfer application to Cornell’s College of Engineering(Civil) for Fall 2018. I have a 3.92 GPA in Civil Engineering at Clarkson University, though those are my stats as a first-semester freshman. I am on track to get a 4.0 this semester.

Clubs:
-Associated General Contractors
-Clarkson University Student Association
-American Society of Civil Engineers
-American Chemical Society
-Steel Bridge
-Humans vs Zombies

Work Experience:
-Admissions Tour Guide
-Potentially tutoring
-Research on alkaline methods of green concrete creation, their durability/environmental impacts, etc.
-Two internships with two attorneys, senior year of high school

Will potentially have a LEED Green Associate Certification as of March 31st.

High school I didn’t do as well- 3.4 GPA(at a competitive high school, but still), 1430-ish on SATs, 32 on ACT. I was sick for a month in Sophomore year, and as a result took a huge hit to my GPA(I wrote about this).

How are my chances? I worry that Clarkson’s lack of selectiveness relative to Cornell will hurt my chances.

Did anyone check off everything? I sent my college report a month ago and it is still marked not received. Also, my high school transcript and mid term report

Hey,

racheliiiii

My High School Transcript and Mid-term report are both not received. I sent them around 3 weeks ago. I’m hoping by this week.

Good Luck to you!

I also sent in my HS transcript, college report and college transcript several weeks ago and they are not checked off. I imagine they have not gotten through all the back logged materials yet and updated our portals. I’m sure now that the application deadline has passed we will start to see updates!

Hey, mine says the same thing. I called the school and they said many applicant materials haven’t been matched up yet. They said not to worry

@SmartJarhead okkkk thank u :slight_smile:

@SmartJarhead to clarify, these things are seen through the self-service right…? I’m a little confused because I turned in my application pretty close to the due date but I haven’t seen things like transcripts boxes where they’re not check or anything of that sort

@betterintime Hey, I turned in my application like 2 weeks before the deadline and the materials way before that and mine still aren’t on there. I called and they said not to worry, and that it takes time to match things up. I’ll probably wait one more week and call again.
