I think it’s useful to post stats paired with an admissions decision.
well, even though we aren’t admissions directors I just wouldn’t want to give my opinion on someone’s chances cause I’d feel bad if they don’t get in…I guess those who do want to give their opinion can(:
I’m talking about how there are two Cornell transfer 2018 threads and that it would be more fruitful if we gravitated the transfer discussion to one thread.
@mishk90 I know what you mean now. I agree as far as the chancing goes. Nevertheless, I like to see other people’s stats so that I can compare myself with other applicants. Also once someone gets accepted I like to see their stats too. It’s helpful to those applying next year as well. @thehoff007 got it! I didn’t even know there was another one.
Yesssss totally understand- don’t worry!
how long does it take Cornell to check off the material? I mailed my midyear report two weeks ago and it hasn’t been checked off yet
They haven’t checked mine off either. I think you may have to send it again or call them.
Everything else is checked off for me except the midterm report. Hoping by the end of this week everything is received.
Yeah, I turned in all of the required documents about a week before the deadline, and many of them aren’t listed as received on the portal. So a few days ago I uploaded them the site manually just to be safe. I’m sure we’ll see updates by the end of this coming week!
when are we supposed to get a decision?
Around May-June. There is no specific date for the decisions @mishk90
On last year’s thread it looked like a lot of people heard in April or the beginning of May. I’m hoping that will be the case this year as well.
Hi everyone! I’ve been reading threads like this for a while so I figured I would show my stats since I’m applying to Cornell this fall as a transfer.
Applying as Civil Engineer major.
College GPA: 3.95 (mid level public university)
High school GPA: I have no idea. Graduated from high school in 2013. I think I placed 12th in my my class. Took every AP and honors class my school had to offer.
Athletics: MVP of football and baseball teams in highschool. Team captains of both as well. Awarded school leadership award my senior year. Awarded Senior Male athlete of the year from my school.
Since High School: I joined the US Air Force and served 4 years as a high voltage electrician. Awarded Air Force Achievement Medal along with 2 Airmen of the Quarter awards. Was the lowest ranking member on record to be responsible for airfield lighting and maitence of the largest bombing precense in the pacific theater.
Letter of Recommendation: I’d say it was really good. Written by a professor I had for 2 classes. I was the only person in each class to receive an A.
Essay: Wrote about this substation Instillation project we currently have on base. The engineers on the project messed up royally and ordered the wrong transformers which would have doomed to project. I had to show them how they would not have meet the electrical needs of the building they were supporting for this project.
Extra info: My father died from a drug overdose when I was a baby. My mother was in and out of drug rehab as well growing up. Attended around 7 different schools growing up just for moving all over the place. I didn’t write about any of this because I didn’t want to use the sympathy card to get into Cornell.
Good luck to everyone! Cornell is an amazing school, and you all are very deserving to attend!
Best luck to you @DBaf20 and many kudos for resisting the “sympathy” card, as you put it. I hope all your honorable achievements will get you into the perfect school for you.
Thank you @JeanJeanie I greatly appreciate it! I wish the same for you as well!
Update:
Fall transfer applicants: Please note that transfer admission decisions are communicated on a rolling basis and applicants will receive an email when decisions can be viewed.
How did you guys submit your midterm reports? Cos I mailed mine on March 14th and that’s the only thing not checked off my portal, but my application has been “forwarded to the admission staff for review”
Faxed by registrars Office
@idekidc I also sent mine via email. A lot of my checklists are still not checked. Transfer admission decisions are communicated on a rolling basis right now so you could call in to check with the admissions office. Maybe you sent in the application early on? idk. Ask them and let us know as well! Good luck
Cornell has a form on the student portal where you can submit it. I submitted it there and it was posted a few days later.
