Cornell Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

Does being waitlisted out of high school help with the possibility of being accepted as a transfer?

Do you guys think less applicants apply to Cornell this year? I checked Fall 2017 transfer thread and the thread was around 105 pages long when it was today last year. Right now, it is 39 pages long.

@yankeebanger maybe less people are just using cc. I know a lot of people who are applying to Cornell and doesn’t go on cc

@Kaschguo I also applied for CAS, math! Good luck to us both!

Has anybody at all gotten any indication of a decision for tomorrow? Last week people seemed to find out early in the day.

it’s kinda weird that pin trick didn’t work for anyone of us today…

Although not what we’re discussing, the financial aid office emailed me last week reassuring me that decisions are made independent of your financial aid status. So even if any of you haven’t finished your financial aid applications, you should get a decision regardless. Hopefully, some of us get decisions tomorrow.

there’s a million reasons the pin trick could not be working today. they already confirmed decisions are coming in waves each tuesday so just wait now. lol

@longwaydriver I agree. I tried the pin trick and it didn’t work for me either. I guess we will see come tomorrow!

So I applied like end of October or around early November to CAS department and majoring in biological science. I have a 4.0 gpa with 77 credit hours. I have math through calculus 3. Physics 1, chemistry 1 and 2, biology 1 and 2. Do you think I have a chance of getting in? My transfer transcripts says initiated; but, I don’t understand what it means.

@Texxas I’d say your academic stats are really strong! However, I am sure there are other competitive applicants as well so it will come down to the essays and letter of rec, etc.

Transfer transcript saying initiated is normal. It is to be completed internally by the Financial Aid Office (we don’t have to do anything about it). It will change to “ordered” when the FA office starts working on your financial aid. It is believed (take this with a grain of salt) that when “initiated” is changed to “ordered”, you’re most likely going to be accepted. ***Note that since this belief is from what we have seen historically on college confidential, it does not mean that you’ll get rejected having “initiated” when receiving the decision.

That being said, I think you have applied really early and you have strong academic stats! I wish you good luck with your application and I hope your decision comes out soon!

accepted via mail today

Were you a GT? @TheCrumpeteer

I think for all future posts on this thread you should specify whether or not you are a GT and what school you applied to. Different colleges release at different times according to previous threads and GTs have different admission standards and possible a different indication with their financial aid on whether they were acceted or not.

@thehoff007 From his post history, he’s a regular transfer. I guess he got all his stuff checked off early.

@TheCrumpeteer WOW Congrats!!! In case I dont get in, please drink some orange juice and Cornell’s very own milk at the Statler Hotel for me. They taste amazing and I miss them! Jkjk, I should still have faith lol. I am getting scared though. But yeah, Congrats to you <3

@thehoff007 TheCrumpeteer is a regular transfer, CAS (Domestic Student)

Is the decision coming out at 10am? I am so excited and couldn’t sleep…

@AndyluChina wanna add WeChat

Had a very good interview with a nice alumnus! I’m still super nervous, since many applicants have much better statistics than me. However, in my essays I explained that I have worked full-time and helped run a family business (40-70 hour work weeks) through high school and college, so hopefully they’ll excuse my imperfect scores! Also, I’m a hospitality student with a focus in the baking and pastry arts, so hopefully they’ll see the different perspective I have to offer. SO NERVOUS!!!

how did you get an interview? I have never heard of anyone getting one…

Guys… your perfect status make me nervous …
